THE MYTH CALLED BROTHER BERNARD
Brother Bernard is just a name
but a name that has saturated fame,
notoriety in Nigeria and it's the same
that evokes comical blunders.
Hope Bernard isn't one of your brothers.
Man dreams of a trip to Peru,
had a dream he was eating his shoe,
then woke up at night after a mouth-full,
as the call of "Brother Bernard" sails through
He finds out his dream had come true.
Yet, they say "Brother Bernard" is just a name.
Oh okay! Any dissimilar notion is just lame!
It's becoming a myth though just a name.
Brother Bernard is like a whistle in a game.
There's unanimity that everybody has a name;
Some are short, some are long.
Dick is a short name but can be strong,
Virginia is name-modified known agelong
and can never be ignored or go wrong.
If there's a name that has attained
realms of societal ridicule & is carelessly profaned,
then it's the mythical phrase "Brother Bernard".
No jury or advocate will annul "this" case.
Does the name create an unseen force?
Our people have caved their superstitions,
greatly influenced by Social Mediacians.
Some say "Brother Bernard is just a name"!
Methinks, that and other names ain't the same!
Though the meme didn't mellow, what a shame!
A fellow opined it is more than a name.
The empirical enquire the memes aim:
And entreat the source of your mythical claim"?
But...I pledge to relish in this euphoria, my lord,
bask in the blunders of the madness galore,
to seize the comical moments with my bare hand.
Revel in the emphatic mention of "Brother Bernard"!

Annette Arnold had recently left college
And was thrust into flimsy dating realms;
She grabbed pen and paper to describe
Top-choice dude of her fanciest dreams.
Dashingly handsome and of complexion nice,
And gallant gait akin to quaint legends' knight;
Sainted for inventive hare's monstrous brains,
Whose vast wit tales eternalize in folios white.
Certainly wielding humongous fiscal sway
At glance to dwarf mythology’s Midas' turn;
Brandishing glitzy wads as any moguls may,
Ever copiously donating all yet lacking none.
Life tenant within fame's flashiest abodes
Where prince and duke sure habitat have,
And king and princess choicest liquids sip;
Where queen and gods fine victuals serve.
Never must such his hallowed mistress
With betrayal's faithless mischiefs afflict,
Defiling indelible vows in his loyal troths,
He’ll steadily love whatever woes persist.
And so first to hit her with resistless lines
Was one William Watts imbiber of wines;
Neither that dashing handsome nor wise;
Faring far from afore-hinted pigment nice.
After wee-witted Williams’ charming vibes
Popped Ronald Riveter from politest tribes,
Known for most arresting manly physique;
Sorry stranger to Midas’ coin-clinking trick.
When Bernard Belmont's pics were seen
He looked plain and of disposition mean;
Unacquainted with idolized royalty’s fame,
Unadorned with duke's resplendent name.
And last Jason Jay did his mistresses vex
If records past might reveal lovers' specks;
His faint affections as whims rose and fell;
Sundering divinest troths as irate exes tell.
Searing decades of pen-and-paper wait
Nabbed no Knight of heaven-hewn trait;
And so did choice-wiser Annette Arnold
Award meek Martin Monks her aisle nod.
She never smiles, laughs or plays anymore.
She has been so sad since the passing of her dog Zore.
We thought hard and long about what we could do.
She was a pretty girl, and our niece, sweet too.
Without asking their permission I asked my sister?
She laughed because she called this guy stuck up mister.
Let’s just do it she urged me. What can he do?
After his baby gets a look at these handsome two?
So, we purchased two St. Bernard puppies that day.
They were so fluffy and fat that box sure did sway.
Her daddy started to lose it without much grace.
But her mother said “We are keeping them. LOOK AT HER FACE!”

I once volunteered to babysit a dog; really, how hard could that be?
She looked at me with pitiful eyes, “Would you please watch my little puppy?”
“Sure”, I said, “I’d love to do it. Just bring him over tonight.”
“A little puppy”, is what she said, but that description didn’t fit him just right.
Only eight months old a puppy might be, that concept isn’t too hard,
But “little” isn’t an accurate word when describing a St. Bernard.
I didn’t slobber-proof myself or my things, didn’t know I had to do it,
My rain coat on and plastic coverings, was the only way I could get through it.
What he didn’t chew or eat right through he slobbered from bottom to top;
I chased him around with a leap and a bound; tracing every step with my new mop.
When she returned at the end of the week my apartment was quite the mess;
“Thank you so much, how can I repay you?” “Please, next time just loose my address!”

Imagination
Hosted on the wings of my mind in flight
In a realm where warm welcome whispers rest,
Ever glowing with glossy gleams of light,
At my journey`s end I wish to lie blest,
With a sense of peace hanging in the air,
And with spurs of wild imagination
Carve smooth streams of verses beyond compare,
Painting my feel, my thoughts and my vision
Of a future free from stark poverty,
Shining with the light of fraternity.

Wish you were here.
Walk with me in my heart, My Love...
I was expecting more noise on a Saturday night,
But the wind wasn't even up.
(I was expecting more wind, too! First time here.)
But the only sound is down by the Lake,
Two Hispanic girls riding bicycles with their brother,
Gaily chattering in Spanish.
This is the only music on the Lake,
But there is other music,
Deep in my Heart, and in my muscles, and in my bones...
Spinning like Cycles of Light, and Wheels of Sound.
The Chicago Symphony Orchestra echoes in all of me.
Beethoven, Bruckner...
And HAITINK.
Bernard Haitink is an old world all by himself,
A man who has seen Glory!
He has listened to her beating Heart,
And has heard her wild and focused Voice like a horn calling out in the
darkness
Glory rings in every cell of his body,
Every time he moves, or breathes, or even shakes...
He fell from the podium the night before, and we thought we had lost him,
But tonight! He is back!
Walking with a cane until intermission, when he refuses,
Perhaps, because it will be his last time conducting in America...
God, GOD! WHO could contain all that emotion?
What Bruckner suffered, Haitink knows,
And what Beethoven dreamed, Haitink has heard in the night...
And after Bruckner, the skyline...
A dark veil dropped down behind it,
And all lit up in blue and white and violet
And Arthur grumbles,
Because he wants
To swim a mile in Lake Michigan,
And the New Law
Will not let him...
What else to say?
There is a feeling of pink
That is in the air,
And the people are warm,
Once they drop guards,
And open,
And that's the best part.
That's Chicago.
Wish you were here, My Love!
When you wake up from your slumber,
And the problems place at your front;
They are truly tough to resolve,
As they are like a typhoon's brunt.
When the darkness is tenacious,
Choosing to spread on your ambient;
Close your both eyes and pray to God,
Asking to have no strength descent.
When your puissance comes from the Lord,
He's your refuge during distress;
God will answer your earnest cry,
Turning your tears into success.
The peace of mind and redemption
Erase the woes, anguish, and fret;
Let the Father clean up your hands,
You're God's servant so fortunate.
