2009 Hyundai Sonata Funereal Lament

Unaffordable, yet valiant speeding,
tailgating, and zooming Pep Boys, I cannot dodge.

Yours truly grief stricken
(sob... sob... sob)...
wheely hard to bear
this anticipatory anxiety
riddled joker impossible
mission thwarting despair

death knell tolled (told),
woebegone news, I did fear
hears stunned me into silence,
the unwelcome prognosis,
I needed to hear
no joke, but good humor

totally wrecked vehicle forces
yours truly to become...,
no not a lion tamer
but, yes a panhandling junketeer
begging, copping, dilly dallying... ha
to accept unpleasant

unexpected dire straits
gravely digging within lithosphere
bidding... fare thee well
treasured automobile faithful and near
synonymous with ideal paramour, yet now
must confront stark reality,

lack ample disposable income available
no financial resources to persevere,
and worse case scenario me
and the missus will need to don
faux Santa Claus outfit,
and roundup available reindeer

for ourselves (yea... yea... yea...,
I realize how spare
and tired, pessimistic,
forlorn success such short notice
unless if... nah no fat or slim chance...
apocalypse ushers abominable thermonuclear

war, (I doubt Trump would
pull publicity stunt
to be re elected - ha) whereby
Beatle browed, foo fighting
foreigners, survivors impressed, feted,
compensated... for service
unless they willingly volunteer.

Combination future pluperfect
birthday presents and Noel hi
Christmas gifts well nigh,
noah ark cake "FAKE" attempt,
to hoodwink, engine ear,
trunk hate, et cetera
drum, harp, trumpet... belie
including objective to shanghai,

nor fall out of good amazing graces
toward (me) garden variety generic guy
providing steadfast generous
figurative air supply to fortify,
revving me shaky talent,
ye may oft times decry
as unintelligible gobbledygook

brainstorming ideas to try
single handedly ambidextrously
poetically kindle indeed codify
to elucidate how transportation
car reared and gone awry
moderate expenses as original parts wear out,
(i.e. battery, fender, brakes,
hood latch, shock absorber, tires...

albeit almost all simultaneously), hence I sigh
aware expounding circumstance that doth defy
immediate resolution incumbent to pacify
troubleshoot immediate impasse
squarely render quintessence
problem solving the overriding
challenge, I vilify.

A Clicking Tock

A night, again, in waking sleep,
Unuttered words that write the wall
From depths of darkness figures creep
Beneath the million fathom fall

Unspeakable the dreams that fright
The squinted eyes belie the wake
Beneath the sheets to flee the fight
And unformed lies the voices make

A promise, bargain, deal to death
Felled on ears that will deny
Ushered to betray in breath
The truth that sleep is but a lie

In the day's too honest light
The facts that once obscured are bare
The fears evaded in the night
Remain and quest the soul to tear

A wish, once made, can only die
The worst of all desires untold
Anything that grows to try
Will wither in the winter's cold

The waking brings the banishment
The sleeping can't afford
But the whisper's vanishment
Is undone by will's accord

Though too sweet the words once spun
And the price too great to say
Life's a game not easily won
Until the dice are thrown away

A night, again, in waking sleep,
Forgotten words exposed to swear
The oath he oaths to wholly keep
In the Game, there's none unfair

Be it love, or hope, or lust
That drives the mind to needs of want
So badly that one would entrust
Such evil with the heart's one haunt

Impossible, the logic cries
The truest evil's the mind of man
Projecting those traits we so despise
Is but the brain's self-loathing plan

Impossible, the hearts dictates
And truly wrong, but be it so
Then what's the price? The soul berrates
For the secrets that heart does stow?

Unsleeping, so the one returns
Whose promises resound through thought
And name and words to the flesh he burns
So that his offer not be forgot

If but a touch of lunacy already exists
What is the matter of spreading the rot
When a ticking clock is what resists
The selling is hardly worth the thought

In another night of waking daze
To make one last oath he may,
"Just sacrifice your mind to craze,
And I will take your pain away"

The deal once struck cannot revoke
The sacrifice is in the smile
The delivery of pays bespoke
Cements the access to freely while

With every day, the sleeping's less
And words will flow from wall to hand
Building to the mind's egress
The hourglass killing shards of sand

When the time has run and no hours will flow
He will come to me to find
Into the madness I'll gladly go
For, unto him, I sold my mind.

Premium Member Black Powder

We celebrate Guy Fawkes although he did not quite make the grade

I know and understand rebellion threatens thus he met his fate

Could have been worse he could have blown of his incendiary hand

Less body parts to torture in the name of country and King of the land

Guido as they called him fighting for the Spanish before his foiled plot

Was fully aware that he could be exterminated for an unsavoury complot

Can violence in the name of debatable justice be ever condoned

The masters of power today might agree when Syria is droned

Crusades in the name of some cause or other belie religion and creed

When money meets oil geopolitical persuasion derived from greed

Black powder in Guy’s case blew up in his fierce revolutionary face

Unlike Nelson an eye for a blind spot got him nothing but disgrace

Dark power gloved fists velvet resolutions and orange insurrections

Should of course release white peace doves from resolute minds’ disaffection

Nena’s 99 red balloons and Banksy’s street art reveal a powerful message

No doubt they beat anthrax in envelops and letter bombs sent by expressage

Yet Mandela in his armed struggle days was deemed a vile terrorist

Fought for the cause in despair but was labelled a mean criminal errorist

Suppose that leaves us with religion and Jesus crossed bleeding nailed

Whereas Guy stored explosives in Westminster’s undercroft with little avail

A white robed Ghandi marched for salt freedom justice peaceful opposition

Before him the Buddha sat quietly under a Bodhi tree for untroubled transition

Fawkes received victor’s punishment but is said to have fallen from the scaffold

Before being hanged broke his neck probably mocked the crowd that was baffled

Avoided the agony of the punitive rope before drawn and divided into four parts

Outsmarted the executioner retribution erratically broken in fits and starts

Few of us know the real story only shoot fireworks remember November the 5th

Blow money miss the pith dispense judgement in blessed ignorance forthwith

A lesson to be learnt from the historical legend some possible moral from treason

Is that words are superior to gun powder and it’s better to die for a right reason

Vociferous Avarice: Wall Street Creed

The path was long and arduous
And night began to veer
O’er trees, and lanes and rusted gates
Its' shadows breeding fear

Unbridled Wind wisped ‘round
Tombstone crosses where
Hissing its’ frustration
Loudly in despair

It sought to nourish fears
The shadows did create
Searching everywhere to find
It’s soul-less night-time mate.

Moonbeam light kissed the Night
Claiming shadows as their child
Together then in lock-step
They bent on running wild

And there, where he awaited
Their cold inspiring touch
With doctrines of all Evils
Firmly in his clutch

The blackness in his heart,
Thumping ‘neath his frock
Soon it’s rancid maladies
The Wind would there unlock

Thoughts of what’s to come
Then twisted lips to smile
Revealing stained and yellowed teeth
Trapping breath so rank and vile

‘twas then The Prince of Avarice
Rose and stood erect
The world would soon be his
To ravage and infect

His eyes of snake, both bespake
Behind their reptile lids
The embrace of the doctrine
For no Evils it forbids

The Wind increased its’ howling
Icy fingers pushing fro
Arranging fallen hopes
Into a dead rouleau

And you and I so un-suspect
Of pending alchemy
Believing we were safe inside
Cocoons of normalcy.

Our naiveté so firmly grasped
Caused us to belie
The chaos we knew not …
‘twas there, and drawing nigh

As Wind fingers touched him
He yelled out his decree:
“ The Prince of Avarice shall reign
And destroy Democracy!”

His school of ghouls, dunce and fools
Clamored to his side
Greed having won the day
Was about to take It’s ride!

Greed, first blessed the banks
And Wall Street did rejoice
The Prince of Avarice then silenced
All protestor ‘s voice

With lies and propaganda
All fabricated well
Then all the bankers rang
The borrowers death knell

Morgan Stanley, AGI,
Then ‘twas Goldman-Sachs
Raking in what Greed gave out:
Billions in green-backs.

Glutted bankers,
Through laughter Greed had honed
Uncaringly showed the world
A prediction - their prodrome

Of broken dreams, foreclosure schemes
Insuring that which failed
But jobs the cost, as homes were lost
And not a banker jailed.

Oblivion Can Still Be Ours

OBLIVION CAN STILL BE OURS

Others may come after the white man
to scratch another notch on that metal post of history
and seize resources to help their people avoid extinction
ideas other entities have been aware of for a long time

But the end of this struggle will not be known in our lifetime
the unknown, ominous thoughts that frighten the white man
living inside his brain dictating his fate
yet he is not the proprietor of his conscience

In whispered tones he speaks in riddles couched in hypocrisy
trying to understand him as he speaks his intentions
his actions confuse the rest of America
his superficial mind bursts with fake facial gestures

Like his trying to teach the brown man to live without greed while
his actions belie his words as he is the prime practitioner of avarice
the white man is certainly no deity regardless of his pretensions
he is not adroit enough to possess the wisdom of God

In giving advice to brown people
he survives by his own fake list of accumulated wealth
but America will know his false façade is not worthy of respect
and maybe his comeuppance will be what he heaped on Hillary

This is a time when the world needs more brotherhood and camaraderie
the survival of people is looming large with egocentric politicians
hell bent on mass murdering its neighbors and its collateral damage
war is not good for the planet or its living things

People are begging for peace hoping egotistical leaders will listen
but extinction looms large in our futures and it’s serious business
if this madness continues I dare say we will know oblivion
indeed humanity demands ultimate self-control from politicians

Man purposefully ignores the reality staring him in the face
he proceeds as if he controls time and resources
but time and resources are not finite
politicians grow old and fat as people live and die hungry

The world is literally falling apart and humanity is starving
Man’s own greed and hunger for more profits is devouring the planet
but unable to stop his insatiable, selfish appetite for more
he has created a path to our extinction and oblivion.

482 Trillion Miles

My eyes are not what they once were, but
I can see you clearly whooshing from
your mother's womb, sluiced between thighs
the grunts, shouts and cries reverberating

eyes closed, arms slightly waving hello
or gesticulating indignation awakened
as life begins with cries of disbelief
already the first threshold crossed

suckled to your mother, pretty as she was
cradled into household tradition and politics
you tottered and ran and bruised and grew
your parents doting and snapping pictures

thirty trillion miles out, you tottered to a
more formal cultivation of ideas and friends
socialization always a hard lesson for some
you had your share of failings and gold stars

then from seemingly nowhere, a smiled soul
appeared before you and kissed your disbelief
like the earlier toddlers first tentative steps
you pulled into gravity's relationship unawares

ignorance doesn't belie love's true desire
and life at the speed of light still shines
as milestones and markers come and go
and marriage's prism splits into all colors

some quarks, apparently from your joining,
burst out into their own space, unknown matters
yet clearly yours...something comes of nothing
what can you add to this creation...the creation

you split like nuclear fission's lost proton
careened off at around two hundred and ten
to find black holes of your own to fall into
and come out into alternate universes of life

that new alternate, smoothed around two fifty,
looked unlike the universe you knew and yet
in time you see it's the same space turned
inside out, like a T-shirt, still comfortable

four hundred trillion out you walked away tired
and retired from all your tangent demanded
somewhere out here the Nebula Amygdala looms
glowing, clouded, radiant with conception

it seems life's friction slows light out here
thoughts travel back, though it's slow going
near the edge of my space, I turn to see you
but my eyes are not what they once were.

Poetic Definition

by Michaelw1two

 Poetic writes speak volumes too,
 this profound nature of humanity;
 expression’s glyph or determination’s rift,
 each soothing rhyme or base profanity;
 provoke of consciousness that drift,
 so casually or with rude insanity;
 furiously incite or simultaneously delight,
 set straight a thought or induce banality;
 unconscious rubric struggles forth,
 within the cleave of line, phrase and meter;
 guides a casual readership towards,
 all present trends hidden in a bard’s demeanor;
exposing just who seems ubiquitous, who is ingenuous,
 or just simply stubbornly ridiculous;
one’s sensuality splayed, our generosity bade,
 your critical natures shown meticulous;
senses not semantics, rule of roles revised,
 lines of life’s romantic, cleverly devised;
 discovering our thoughts on everything,
 exposing our minds to Id and ideals contrived;
 methods breached lift conclusion’s reach,
 an ill-advised tome reaps the thought’s divine;
 nurtured reasoning replaced by jest,
 releases the distain hidden within a mind’s set plein;
within this relief be it muse or beast,
 rests an orators mirth, or an epic myth’s imply;
poetic license freed, such a thing indeed,
 that “cat’s meow” bests a graven image’s belie;
metaphors and idioms when used correct,
 add intrigue and delight to a word works vamp;
bathos taps one’s inner laugh, hyperboles,
 release a poem’s waft, jape and poet’s stamp;
 pleonasms reinforce, oxymora juxtapose,
 litotes understate, analogies delineate… cognition;
and irony, an express of verbal, dramatic,
 cosmic or Socratic, lead to a write’s ideal fruition;
understanding each of these parts implores,
 partnership between, these particles and that of yours;
expressing the limits of personal tastes and so much more,
 you, your dreams, schemes, hates, fears, tears and rapport;
binding together all of US, and create the bonds that thus sustain,
poetry to living life, to easing strife, within the poet’s world domain.

April 9th, 2022 Birthday Poem For Dearly Departed Papa I

Elysian fields long since embraced dada's soul
which rocketed into aerospace
(courtesy General Electric satellite)
just a tad more'n eighteen plus months ago,
nevertheless melancholy
still plucks mine heart strings.

Mine psyche still situated awry
placid countenance of yours truly doth belie
residual sadness easily prompted
can easily trigger me to cry
linkedin when grim reaper gloated
October 7th, 2020
ye did somewhat peacefully die
though methinks immortality
I did briefly espy,

when miracles of modern medicine
tried, but could not
stave off mortality nor fortify
depredations of aging concerning
one wunderkind whose accomplishments
laudatory when a young handsome guy,
whose intelligence scored high
native talent aptitude tests did imply.

The late Boyce Brandon Harris
exhibited prolific talents at young age
aside being scholastically gifted,
acquiring graduate degree
courtesy Columbia University,
freshly minted mechanical engineer
(he admirably ranked within
uppermost percentile academically),
I hashtag thy mine deceased father
(a polymath - jack-of-all-trades),
who possessed (née excelled)
at diverse creative abilities.

Aside from being schooled
as mechanical engineer,
(which courses in mathematics and science
he passed with flying colors)
his mind genetically bequeathed
to craft almost anything under the sun
evidenced first by yours truly,
the second offspring and sole son
who ofttimes felt intimidated
at being in presence
of said Renaissance man.

Handicrafts included
expending blood, sweat, and tears
to craft multitude of projects;
i. building me Flintstone (foot powered)
car with wooden license plate.
ii. making playhouse for all three
of us - his progeny.
iii. amassing wood pile(s),
to stoke wood burning stoves
iv. designing Zayda trail for Teddy and Ruff
(two doggone mixed breed Border Collies
rescued courtesy youngest sister
at her Jacobsburg, Penna work site)
v. constructing sauna in cellar,

Equitably Delivered Comeuppance Betokens Agony

Awareness about behavior,
present since mine days of yore
an unswerving allie analogous
to peacekeeper ending civil war
belated insight suddenly realized

(better late than never) doth underscore
incumbent proactive communication stance
belatedly bestowed omnipotent awareness
crucial fostering ingredient to shore
maternal bond above

bejesus ear splitting roar
I admit regret (to self), there
dost belie suppressed yen to pour
out sorrows 'twixt this sole him son,
and long deceased mother, he

deprived her his love and outwore
the Scottish tartan Harris tweed
welcome (haz) mat, which pained
materialized soon after her death, nor
can compensation be made,

now ex post facto,
when futility of spilt tears got more
gauged and swept away, when
nary a trace I privately cried
amidst lachrymose lakeshore.

20/20 hindsight brought me unflagging mast
into stark painful focus,
essentially how mine
formative behavior wrought avast

dystopian emotional fractured mindscape,
which non positive coping methods
lit fuse kindling devastating catastrophic blast
from yesteryear to present silent woebegone
desolate gloomy terrain past

grandeur eclipsed by present gloom
finds yours truly stranded like cast
away bleached flotsam upon coast
amidst tempestuous rocky shoals
clinging for dear life with grasp fast,

Where tenuous, precarious,
and ludicrous ship
of state can no longer maintain
even a marginal grip
but with slight equip

age willing, wedding,
and wanting brings relief from whip
lashed incurred (within body) showing rip
pulled scarred taut welts testimony, sans
long electrified with aggravation,

excruciation, and intoleration can easily flip
a figurative switch in summary
ushering final lip
service to charade,
facade, and masquerade

at lightspeed didst clip
this...Potemkin Village,
where everything "FAKE,"
asper envisioning flickr
ring mirage recounting ancient Egypt!
