If You Don'T View This a Little Ten Year Old Boy In Iowa Will Die

SUDDENLY SOMETHING

Have you ever spent a night in a six by ten foot cell?
Well that’s where my FESTERING fears dwell
And no one with a prescription pad will write for a junkie born and bred
Did you ever wish more earth dwellers would all suddenly be dead

Look, there’s a pretty little miss, oh it’s daddy’s little girl
She dances on my feet when she starts to whirl
I told her to hold down her pleated skirt when she begins to twirl
My little girl with a smile and every tooth a perfect pearl

In silent supplication I’d sneak up to hear her prayer for that eve
I just wanted to hear daddy’s little girl pray and then I would leave
First she blessed the Almighty, his spirit and his soul
Making prayers come true was her sole and only goal

It could be a league of angels advising her on the right thing to do
Or sprites to make all things look like new
It might be little singing stars, from above came they for you
So your daughter can ignore an errant and off key dove pleased not to coo

She looks completely comfortable in a cloak and coat of cashmere
S**t, I’d trade an arm for her body no matter what she may wear
Whatever happens next is only though fate to be willed
And if you listen closely one can hear the breeze being stilled

Alas she grows nigh with hips swinging and lips moving
And then those loquacious lips emitted “would you care to have a tea”
I knew she could hear by heart from across the table
And then it was only silence, lovely her and me

“Look, me and that lady over there are wearing the same dress”
And so whatever she was going to do it may have to be under duress
“that lady has the a copy of my original,” and she was enraged
Something tells me your friends have never been caged

I’ve been penned up with a pen, pen pals and ten pencils, but only one isn’t too dull
You’d think out of all those pencils there’d be one sharp one to cull
So you’re daddy’s little girl no longer my sweet
But I’ll let y’all know when next we can meet

So when I first talked about being caged in a cell
if asked for the truth my story would be difficult to tell
Because each eye a gem, each tooth a pearl
So tell me sweetheart, are you still daddy’s little girl

And s.b.---if you are gonna ask me, so where’s the nexus from one thing to another I
say go have another glass of vintage brandy.

Paltry-----Parishoners

O.K.K.K.
Sit down and allow me to tell you a story
but first let's all take an inventory
we've got the K.K.K. riding around with shotguns and a black target or two
we 've got the Mafia running almost all of Las Vegas and making huge bucks to leave you
black and blue
and there ain't a stich of clothing you're wearing didn't get the Mafia's okay
And when they stop ruling it that will be the day
who whacked who to take over the garbage end of the deal?
and who killed who to be handed over delivery trucks made of Mafia steel?

from the corner store on Tenth Street and death
ain't nothing that doesn't have a price, everything but your blessed breath
and then we got gang members shooting another gang because he crossed the turf
instead of bragging about bullet wounds they should all learn to surf
we've got as many drugs in the prisons as you do on the street
and that's all because of jailhouse guard Gordon and prisoner Pete

Pete's in for life because he didn't like his old girlfriend kissing another
so Pete took a shotgun and blew the girl away because she was doing Pete's brother
so Pete paces the pen that ain't even ten by ten
but here comes jailhouse guard Gordon to soothe down a lot of men
i think it's an ingenious idea of Gordon
Keep all the men doped up and you won't need a Warden

Little Lois used to live with her mother Mable and father Fred
but there was a drive by shooting and now poor little Lois is dead
but it didn't matter how and why the young girl died
it matters that God is no longer our guide
Satan took his spot when people believed the Lord was dead
at least that's what Tommy Tatola had said
you know Tommy who's somehow into both the mafia and jails
and there's always being a hit man when all else fails
But Tommy's brother went a completely opposite way
he's down south murdering innocent African Americans with the K.K.K.

Just Once Dopes Dunce

JUST ONCE DOPE'S DUNCE
                Come on girl
Just a bit
                Come on woman
Just one little hit
I stick it in
ain’t no sin
I push the plunger down
And thusly dissipates your frown
I just want you to try it today
Tomorrow you’ll have the power to throw it away
But at least let me give you one little shot
I promise not to cook you up and shoot a whole lot
Come on girl
Hold your arm as straight as a branch and sit still
This is better than any liquid, capsule or pill
I’ll just tie this belt around your arm
And Lord knows, just once can’t do you no harm
Yeah that’s a good girl with very good veins
AND ONE FOXY MAN AND THE SINCERITY HE FEIGHNS
And so he took the needle from her arm he had dubbed a branch
Listen, little lady, you did it because to consider, reflect and imagine he never gave you a
chance
Miss fancy and frilly from the upper class
No one’s rich when dope owns their ass
And that’s why the guy said “come on honey, just one
And believe me when we need money she won’t fake being a nun”
And so another hooker is born and owned by my street
That’s how she and he came to meet
She was so sweet but acrid be his soul
Now she’s a huge cube and am unable to roll
She did it, she dug it, now she craves a lot more
And feeding right into Mr. Wrong’s plan he made her a whore
“So just once girl that’s all I ask”
And after that she couldn’t decline any sexual task
His every command would go heeded lest he get enraged
Poor little society sweetheart now locked in a cage

I Found Hope and Charity In the Mall But If You See Faith Tell Her To Call Please

HIDE AND GROW WEAK

It was a very slow progression
But a very long depression
I’d try to say the words she needed to hear
While I watched temptation as it grew near

Her laughter was my playground and play we did
I was out seeking her while my little girl hid
She used to get angry when I wouldn’t play house
And then there was “Tiny, her tiny pet mouse

Her friends would sleep over and have a pillow fight
I’d be sitting in the living room hearing screams of delight
She was little and loved pancakes with peaches and cream
But now her childhood seems to me only a very short dream

She met Billy and he stole away all of my hope
He got her to follow as he started shooting dope
I watched a free little girl turn into another man’s slave
And that’s why I’m kneeling now at my young daughter’s grave

The Old Photograph

Cleaning my room the other day
I found an old photo
It was of a beautiful little girl
She had dark hair, dark as night
And the biggest blue eyes I’ve ever seen
I couldn’t believe it, this was me!
I must’ve been around 7
Then I looked closer, it wasn’t me
The girl was smiling, I never smile
This girl had no bruises, but had her innocence
I was opposite, bruises and no innocence
This girl had never been beat or rapped, or forgotten
She was perfect
I almost asked who the girl was,
Then decided I shouldn’t,
Something told me she was gone,
Forever
I looked again at the old photo
Shocked by the resemblance
The longer I looked,
The more I remembered
A life without beatings and rape.
Then I shuddered and threw the photo away
It was of a girl long dead and long gone
She didn’t exist anymore

I See

You look at what I do
You just see words
But when I look I see more
I see emotions running strong
I see a heart bared for all
I see fears of not being accepted
Fears of people's scorn
But most of all I see
I see what wasn't meant to be seen
I see a girl afraid to grow up
A girl not sure of her life
A girl too self conscious to live
This girl shows the world a face
She hides behind that face afraid
Afraid of what will happen when she leaves
When she shows the world the true her
Few see this girl's true self
Most see just that mask and think its real
I see this girl hidden in my poetry
I see because she is me
