Silence slowly dims into space,
heaves gently over words and lines
words and whispers whirl with awe
despite hindrance, I strive to spell
the range of emotions whirling—
a restless sea.
Semantics and syntax—alien to my root tongue,
linguistic rules and policies
taught in sterile settings
harvest dust while I strive for the right!
Tune in to your heart—
select the right spectrum
repelling ripples resemble ink fading into water
a wavelength for moonlight threading.
No lexicon conveys the implicit clamor of the vernacular,
woven via deft looks, we have created
our crypto-system, carved on our skin
Inscribed in whispers—
whispered through silence—
hush as heavy as viscous fog.
Your chocolate teeth will be rotting you little cheeky devil
But I’ll take this mischievous ‘treat’ to a much higher level
Spike the candy bars with castor oil and laxative suspension
You’ll wish the loo was closer and for a surgical bowel extension
We’re brothers so I Won’t tell Daddy and Mommy why you excrete
So much but between you me and toilet paper we can share a secret
Can’t wait until Christmas to remind you in detail of all that crap
Of how the yummy stuff made you hurt and your guts on full tap
When explosions have finished and I’m praised for my care and concern
You’ll be relieved in two way because my sweet revenge is taciturn

FREE MY HEART
An extreme sadness engulfs my heart...
like an ebony cage... of frozen tears,
Within, my heart beats in obscurity,
emotions trapped in a turmoil create a stagnant storm,
pain racks the whole body,
as I keep up the masquerade of smiles... and false promises.
I am tired...
tired of this constant drumming ache.
Aloof from everyone, I live a life of death
each day, anguish and pangs of sorrow hypnotize me...
The suture on my broken heart is torn, beyond repair.
Not even the veneer of your love or kindness can bind it now.
Crimson crystal drops drip, as I labour to liberate my heart
from this opaque world... where no one sees me.
Today, in Christ, I am free...
free from the storm within...
free from the world without...
free to fly...
free to write...
free forever.
My heart has found its freedom... au revoir.

O’ Jealousy
SORRY FOR THE BROKEN
LINES- EACH SINGLE
LINE ENDS WITH A
COMMA.
O’ Jealousy how
wonderful You are,
You sow the seeds of
hatred,
So deep,
Often even,
In an innocent
heart,
That friendship,
love and sympathy,
Began to seize
slowly,
By the charm of your
tempting arts.
You create doubts,
To watering the
plants of hatred,
Which slowly grows,
On the fertile land
of mind,
But soon,
Its roots began to
find,
Their pores,
In the soft corner
of hearts,
And then one day,
It takes into its
clutches,
Even the most
liberal part of our
hearts.
I salute thee, O’
Jealousy,
As you live in every
heart,
And began to show
your colors,
Irrespective of age,
regions and bars,
In every land of
this Earth,
Even high in the sky
and the heaven,
You live and bloom
in every season,
You move from one
end to another,
So swiftly and so
fast,
Without the
formalities,
Of any permission,
And without the need
of any pass,
No sky can limit
your boundaries,
No heart can torn
you apart.
No one in the entire
universe,
Has the power to
make you stop,
Sooner or later we
all succumbs,
In the traps of your
alluring arts,
How beautiful and
catching,
You weave a story,
To trap the poor
hearts,
How magnificently
you wait,
For the prey to play
in your hands,
And to see its great
fall,
While singing the
same tune and songs,
Which you have
weaved,
Through your master
craftsmanship,
For the poor soul
and hearts.
For this reason,
I salute you,
O’ most beautiful
jealously,
As you are a
beloved,
Of everyone’s heart.
Please be merciful
on me,
And leave me without
your shines,
In my heart,
In lieu of this,
I promise to praise
thee in my arts,
O’ jealousy, how
wonderful you are.

Dear Daddy,how I miss you!
gone so very long.
But your eyes still sparkle and
I hear your life’s sweet song.
To be kind and forever a giver, to my
fellow man and woman.
To be forever a child of God, truthful,
and a compassionate human!
You gave more to people, than anyone
I have ever known.
Never looking to be king of the day,
neither a follower, with a groan!
One August 30th, you died in your bed,
Mom, and a gold cross at your side.
Angels came quickly, and up to heaven~
your final, heaven bound ride!
Your values, which you passed on to me.
sing loudly, in all my lines of poetry
You wisely taught me right from wrong,
to not be a peacock, in any throng!
In memory of my father, Edward who went
home to God on August 30,1984.
Blessed by you, Daddy!
Love, Panagiota
when silence speaks
there comes a time
the time when words
matters no more
this too comes
after too many
empty spoken words
there comes a time
the time when we
decide to be silent
for too long
we have been wallowing
in promise full of
empty spoken words
when silence speaks
there comes? a time
this time is a time
decision making
this time is not the
time to take nonsense
this time is am important time
there comes a time
this time is an
alarming time
this time is a time
to weak up
sit up
buckle up
in this time
empty words don't speak
when silence speaks
there comes a time
a time when we need
no more lies
a time when all
we need begin
a time of silence
in reverse
a time when old words
of emptiness can't
captivate us anymore
30th of may
the people of Biafra
choose silence
we choose indoors
we choose to rise
in this time we harm
no one but those
that don't need
we be free
in this time we got
no other way but
to let
silence speak.

Our Halloween cat finally brought home,
Cuteness on display like models in Rome,
Even it shines so nice,
Like jewels of good price.
Fun smiles when it's allowed to freely roam.
Two cat buddies thought they had a new friend,
This big-eyed stranger toy cat could not bend,
Having a sway motion,
With no emotion.
To all their cat plays its mood could not blend.
Its curious hosts never saw its jumps,
Like a drunkard its walk is full of slumps,
So smittened so bad,
To make it feel sad,
But when it got shattered they both felt trumped.
The Owelle
of the realm
of Onitsha
their title,
Zik of Africa
Our vintage title.
Zik a real patriot
with core values
your contemporaries
were at the regions
but you dreamt of one
Nigeria at the center
Tribe and tongue in vain.
The Owelle was a champion
a champion of the center
though your ideals were
thawed by your peers
he solidly stood by it
even in the face
of the civil war
One Nigeria! One Nigeria!!
echoes that kept reverberating
One Nigeria! One Nigeria!!
Time and time again your
relevance proven
Turned sounds of Nigeria
relished.
Owelle of Onitsha
Zik of Africa.

She speaks with her nose opened wide
Like that of Queen Elizabeth the none
From the fringe of the nose
She speaks very fluently
Chewing Queen’s language
With her head high up
She must have been an “Americana”
No! Briton, I mean
Chorused the mouth of many.
Yet she was not only born of here
She leaves all her life within
In the dusks . . . thick
Of a town called “Ibara”.
Indeed the other face of “Ibara”
We thought she was of the
Known family in “Ibara”
“Ibara” of the biggest shots
We were hoodwinked again
Its “Ibara” other side
With people of no side or size.
I became popeyed of it the news
That her Father a local referee
I wore it a gown of surprise
Of her fluency even in
Pidgin and Yoruba dictions.
Needing twenty two lies
To support one big heady fabrication.
Does she defeacate or fart ?
Too clean of a skin and look
Selling dubiously nothing but her casing
As many Adams pay for her pretence
Others swayed by her glibness
Skinned naked by her smile . . . comportment
Donate generously to her carcass
Of an empty moving coffin.
Too hollow to be real.
She can’t sleep in darkness
She can’t wash her clothes
Yet she is full of pretence
Too pompous to be genuine.
Enter the knockings of that day
That she will be strip naked
Of her white flying lies
All at the open market square.
