Drawing is...
...essential to my life,
my need-to-mark work
to claim,
touch,
make visible
that which exists hidden
within the thinness
of a sheet of paper;
to see rather than merely look,
my eyes, lodestones
for edge,
shadow,
form,
position;
to ingest that which meets my eye,
then loose it through
the conduit of my fingers,
revealing traces in the paper
of a reality such as
only I can see.

Plans are like pudding
So soft and sweet;
We shape them and make them
Like chocolate chip treats.
Rolling them ‘round
In our smarty-pants minds
Believing in somedays,
Goals and deadlines.
We treat them like candy
Or precious lodestones;
And can’t live without them
So deep in our bones.
How could we manage
To move on ahead?
Without future thinking
We’re dumber than lead.
So sooner or later
With enough sweat and tears;
We’ll reach all our goals and vanquish our fears.
Until then we struggle,
Strive, lose and win,
Never planning tomorrow
Might not come again.
