A seagull soars over the ocean with upward force and thrust
Far away in the distance a whale swims away from a human spoon
Another era of uncertainty, an empty shore, a virus battle cry
Resonating through the land Mother nature weeps, silently....
Classification of humans bawling at the sky what have we done ?
Rallies, lineups, vaccine hiccups, blubbering children of the past
Yearning for health we offer up our arms, hoping for freedom.

Ocean Falls, B.C. has on average
Over 300 days of rain a year
Surely not somewhere I'd want to live
Many attempt suicide I hear
Canadians have a funny habit of
Ending each sentence with an “eh”
Couldn't be a bank robber in the U.S.A.
The “eh” would be a dead giveaway
Average number of folks in our households
Is roughly 2.6, give or take
Would sure like to meet that .6 person
An interesting image that'd make
Millions attend our Calgary Stampede
But we're really not a bunch of yahoos
We're a very computer literate country
Emails we send quite a slew
A unique Canadian one dollar coin
Was introduced back in 1987
It's affectionally known as a loonie
But it doesn't describe us, thank heaven
Even dog food here is tax-deductible
Expecting big lineups at immigration
Reason to migrate to this wonderful land
We welcome folks from ever nation

With breathless haste and trembling hope
Comes April's long awaited day.
Flannels fitted, cleats are cleared.
Bats all polished, heroes cheered.
The rosters set, the lineups made.
Dispel all such reproachful pain,
Of past defeats, these thoughts remain,
Avenge those days with plans well laid.
Green pastures accent early mists;
High skies with soaring hearts abound.
Impatient folk with childish joy
In this Cathedral gather 'round.
The banners flapping overhead
To worship at the shrine of sport
As music from the organ run
To see a legacy is won.
Appease the gods with humble prayer
To bless this grand auspicious day!
With golden echoes sweet shall call
The anthem to begin the play.
"Play Ball!" The shout goes out to all.
Ten thousand voices rise and fall.
The spirits lift to heaven's gate
To root and share a common fate!
