Cliches

I need a cliche like a hole in the head
Hackneyed comments make me wish I was dead
I hang onto sanity by a mere thread
If I hear one more I’ll go off my head.

It would be better to say nothing at all
People’s trite comments never fail to appall
Go on use a cliche if you have the gall
But say one near me and I’ll have your balls.

Premium Member He Gave Her a Book

That gold leafed hard cover, that’s what would swing it
She gave him the title and asked him to bring it
Dad always answered to her delectations
And next day he handed her ‘Great Expectations’

Just the right size and just the right weight
An old fashioned read but it should balance great
She tired of the story for so much was bleak
But that tome would serve her well, week after week

‘Learning’ she needs like a hole in the head
She’d wed a rich sucker who’s easily led
But she used to walk like a duck on a bike
Yet now she has poise that is so ladylike

Premium Member Mad As a Hornet

I’m mad as a hornet, which means mad as hell,
Cause somebody’s saying I write too “cliché.”
Well, I’ve had it to here. Now can’t you tell?
I don’t give a hoot what he has to say!

So what if I’m not some snot’s cup of tea?
I’ll write however I want, for Pete’s sake!
He doesn’t know beans! Good for nothing is he.
I’ll just tell that nut to jump in a lake.

He says that my imagery is not unique,
Yet meanwhile, that no-talent writes for the birds!
Like a hole in the head, I need his critique!
He best watch his back, and them’s fightin’ words.

His high lofty thoughts - I need none of those.
In fact, I will shove them all up his nose!

(Just being silly, but this was fun)

Premium Member Holes In the Head

The taxman called: “You’re being audited”, he said
I needed that like a hole in the head
The doctor said twins; it was triplets instead
I needed that like a hole in the head
My wife said: “No more babies, get out of my bed!”
I needed that like a hole in the head
We’re all getting sick; the pipes are made of lead
I needed that like a hole in the head.

The vegetables in my garden, due to bugs are all dead
I needed that like a hole in the head
My doctor gave the “Bend over” instruction I dread
I needed that like a hole in the head
The monies in my account, to the creditors fled
I needed that like a hole in the head
Transmission fluid on the garage floor has all been bled
I needed that like a hole in the head.

So if you’ve got bad news, don’t hold it back
May as well add some more to the pack
My head is already full of holes galore
How much can it hurt to add one more?

In case you haven't guessed, my Catch Phrase is: "I needed that like a hole in the head".

One

I see a light from behind
The statue of hope
In the dark of my mind
Am I the only one here
In whats left of this town
In a world broken down

I wear this sorrow like a hole in the head
My demons block out the sun
leaving me as the one
The one who exists for no one
Who shoulders the burdens
To live with nowhere to run
