That gold leafed hard cover, that’s what would swing it She gave him the title and asked him to bring it Dad always answered to her delectations And next day he handed her ‘Great Expectations’ Just the right size and just the right weight An old fashioned read but it should balance great She tired of the story for so much was bleak But that tome would serve her well, week after week ‘Learning’ she needs like a hole in the head She’d wed a rich sucker who’s easily led But she used to walk like a duck on a bike Yet now she has poise that is so ladylike 14 May 2021 Contest: He Gave Her A Book Sponsor: Mystic Rose Rose

Nice job, Terry. Seems like you have uncovered a good use for Dickens's tome. It will flatten the dome!

I Can honestly tell you, I have no idea where that notion came from. I’ll be honest, I fully expect an N/A, but when I approach a contest from left field, it’s a chance I take. Thanks Milt. Terry
