Premium MemberThe Beer Ends Here

To his shame and dismay,
he drank beer all that day;
never did get to the funeral –
held up, he said, at a urinal.

Torrid Affair

If, as the saying goes,
'There's no smoke without fire,'
is it smarter to ignite a spark
(illumination causation)
than bedamn the dark,
and thereby induce a funeral pyre,
or, better yet, a safer bet,
to avoid gossip and accusations,
find the substantiated fact(s)
(true datum)
before you act
and land in sorry situations?
It's no joke, on soot you'll choke,
yet, on the greener side,
carry the torch for earth non-scorched
but best your light you hide,
(it may be life-transforming)
beneath an unburnt bush,
so as not to incur global warming.

Forever A Hold On

Yesterday a funeral blocked my streets
They passed their silent tears to me

On window glass reflecting them in rain
So soon to sob roots outside the pain

Of the last closing stone —
Where memories are in flowers thrown

Has a heart in heaven a new name?
Or is beloved just beloved for beloved's sake?

As ones grieving overcast by their cloud rawing
I saw rain as a comfort in the body —

Premium MemberGod’s Carousel

she told me she wanted her flowers
while she was still alive and well

her children collected bouquets, offerings
meant for her finicky nose to smell

she told me love was the reason
for this life she lived before saying farewell

her heart was filled with such kindness
a love that no one could buy or sell

she told me to bring her my flowers
because only time could tell…

when her time on this earth had passed by
her spirit would leave her body, only a shell

I miss this woman I called granny
I miss how her light would swell
glistening like the stars in heaven
now, she’s the hope I’ll always tell
friends, family, those I love - because
she’s still enjoying God’s carousel

message to my parents

You can let your gentle eyes rest tonight

I wont arrive in the morning light

Dont bother worring and crying

You can let your gentle eyes rest

Since you now dont have to see my face

Corridors wont seem as crampted

And nights wont seem as long nor sad

Everything will seem much better

Once you let your gentle eyes rest

No more sleepless nights, no more wet pillows, no more pointless fights

Just you and an empty kitchen in the morning light

The Brightest Girl In The Room

She didn’t deserve it
Yet death never ceases.

She was the brightest girl in the room
Despite injuries blocking her passion.
She conjured smiles and laughter and eye rolls
With everything she did.

Then she experienced her first loss
And the candle flickered if only for a moment.

Then she was back to herself
For even death could not stop her.

Until it tried again.

And after it failed another time,
It came again.

All in less than a year.

I sat and watched in silence
Watched her being comforted after sharing the news of yet another funeral
And wondered
How she does it
How she still gets up in the morning
Puts on a smile
And keeps on living
Not just surviving.

Because I was her just a few short years ago.
But instead of staying strong like she does
I crumpled
And gave in to the weight of the loss.

Yet this girl still has that innocent look on her face
And the spark in her eyes.

So either she’s so good at faking
She’s convinced the most experienced empath,

Or we could all take a page out of her book
And take what life throws at us with her grace.

Why did you have to go?

Why did you have to go as soon as you did?
Why did you have to go and leave a hole in my heart when you went away?,
Why can I never ask you for advice again?
Why can we never do the crossword again?

I was so upset when you died,
I still went into school though,
just to get my mind off the pain that I felt,
I know you would’ve been proud of me,

My teacher talked to my dad,
Said I was quieter than normal,
But I think maybe I was trying to be strong, for you,
Maybe I was trying to be strong

I still sort of remember the funeral,
We were all in black obviously,
but at the same time,
we were trying to make it a happy occasion,
A celebration,

Remembering the life, he lived and the fame and experiences you had,
All I wonder is?
All I wonder is?
All I wonder is what life would be like now, if you were still here

Taking Back

Memories from 2020:

TAKING BACK
Artist: Michelle Morris
Artist's Description
When we're let down by love and feel betrayed, we need to stand up and take back our power. We are able to overcome this adversity.

TAKING BACK
BY MICHELLE MORRIS

Come on in,
Look over there;
Check out your stuff
It's on the chair.

Give me back my key;
Take your ring now.
I don't want to
Hear all your stupid lies.

Chorus
Taking back my life;
Taking back my power;
Burning all these
Broken dreams,
On a funeral pyre.

Taking back my life;
Taking back my power;
Might take me a while,
But you will know it;
I'll be greater than
The Roman Empire.
(End Chorus)

Go now,
Never come back.
Don't want to see
You ever - not ever.
Fake you,
Fake lover;
Nothing but trouble.

Hope you learn
Karma burns -
Your a* will know,
When she kicks
You out.
Fake you,
Fake lover;
Pick a number
Then it's over.

Chorus

Yeah, I'm taking
Back my life,
Taking back my power.
I am greater than
The Roman Empire.

A Fancy Glass

When my time has come, I will leave with a smile,
No sad goodbyes, it’s just not my style.

My time here on earth is full of love and light,
But when He calls me home, it will be all right.

A funeral, a service? No, I think I will pass,
Just have a drink on me, in a fancy glass.

Premium MemberFuneral Poem: the Setting Sun

Like most people
On life’s long journey,
I’ve fought some bouts and
I’ve played some rounds,
I’ve had my ups and
I’ve had my downs,
I’ve laughed tears of joy and
I’ve cried tears of sorrow,
But always lived in the present,
Never tried to hasten my tomorrow.

I’ve played my part and
I’ve held my place,
In what is known as
The Human Race,
A race which I have not lost
Yet I have not won,
For it’s merely preparation
For my final walk
Towards the setting sun …

Detonated Forms

Angel wait in detonated forms
black ragged thorns wrapped
around stained cruciforms…

Singular saints dark faint
forms hide in corners not
washed in candlelight
as crows sit in irregular rows.

Take flight from skeletal spines
high in some ancient cathedral spire
encrusted in black oblique forms…

The distance along the seams
of reality stretching high
into some deserted
distant American midnight!

Lost in thoughts of empire
that see the continental fires blaze
forever as the clock strikes the hour…

Of midnight, as the angels wait
in abstraction of oblivions forms,
on thrones wrapped in thorns.

Deep in eternal night
watch the funeral pyre climb
higher around the cruciforms.

Distance dire angels wait
in that oblique obsolete and desolate form,
black ragged thorns wrapped
around blackened cruciforms…

A faded billboard
boldly claims the coming reign along
                 the highways of some
                       Mad American Empire…

await war with desire…!

Nautilus I

Watching the horizons
as the waves crash…
The sun dies its elegant death
of golden blood
upon the distant shores.
It washes jade green and aquamarine
upon creations seam, the edge of the earth.
Sand cools under tired feet
Head held low
A cry high overhead rises
into the sky on silhouetted Wings.
Watching wonders of wraiths
and washing wishes away…
Along the leviathans streams.
A splash in elegant Crimson and golden light
The Blood of a dying sun, seeps into the sea…
as a finger traces the ancient chambers
of the mystic nautilus.

Antediluvian

On site of this forgotten Babylon
What powerful but unrecorded race
Once dwelt in this annihilated place
What strange creature’s kin
to inhuman race
Dwell deep in antediluvian hells
Uncanny things creep
and scurry in forgotten realms
where Poseidon reigns in dark
crumbling cathedrals built
to worship cryptic gods from
outer voids darkest empires
What hell is this of undiscovered divinities
Babylon burns as nations
of man conspiring to touch
the face of an imperfect god
sink to depths deeper undefined
What afterbirth of leviathan
hide in secret chambers
plot damnation to human minds
insanities spawn monstrosities
that doom mens soul and break their realities
In sight of this forgotten Babylon
Along a desolate Mesopotamian shore
What powerful unrecorded species
dwell with in this annihilated place
Where strange creatures akin
to the human race
Dwell deep in antediluvian hells

Ode to Lovecraftian lore…

Echos

Only an echo is left
in the halls distant in the falls
void for trapings and all
drifts through the moments like shadows
awaking dreams
the razor of reality
only echos are left
like the passing of a funeral parade
in the glow of the fire
its dark creation lived out fast
lives greatest desires
only the echoes last
only the echoes last x3

Life

Life is so strange,
Nothing stays the same.
Everything change,
But who to blame?

It is like a game
Where you lose,
Before you gain
And to win you have to face the fearful rain.

The closest people you need, go away
When you need them the most,
You find them lost.

Day after day
Days go by,
People are born…and others die.

Year after year
Years go by,
Nothing is clear, hearts are left in fear.

Today you walk and talk,
Tomorrow you lay in your grave
Nothing it gave,
The money that you save
No use of your gold,
When it won't be sold.

Be strong,
And stop doing wrong.
Never lie,
And always be ready for your last goodbye.
