foundation started
around us life emerges
growing constantly
I don’t want to win
My dad says I run fast
I don’t know
what that means
in the scheme
of things
If fast could hold a family,
a sandwich, a meaning
together truer
than melting cartoons,
then I promise
I’ll believe in love again
It’s raining of sunless pleasure; smiles and frowns.
Exacting - the priceless presence of nature.
Who will save this family; its ups and downs…
What doesn’t work - scolding of ‘rents’s-legislature.
Oh, we saw the littles pull the drain, the sounds
Of fallen oaks, branches running; teenagers.
Little feet slip and slide; it’s a muddy mess.
Let the kids make tracks - must let go to possess.
Where oh where can you be now?
Dreaming and waiting for you,
till I met you I will wait.
Baby has arrived.
As parents,
we never know what a child will ask.
All we can do is,
be prepared.
Out of the blue I was asked,
"which one do you love more?"
That was an easy question and answer.
When I give out cookies,
each of you get the same number.
Because I love you each equally.
LONG AGO
It seems the love I've known
Has always been the contingent and transitory kind
Maybe that is why
I have felt so alone
For a long time
Long ago, when I was younger
The feel of life was so good, I thought I’d have a great future
But so many things went annoyingly wrong
Like someone had changed the rules without notice
Many stories that were inspired never got published
Although, a few good things did occur
I lived by day and tried to keep my feelings in
I am not sure how I could have survived without family
But that was so long ago
Friendship
Friend is a word of Royal tone
Friend is a poem all alone
Friend is a word that must never
Be taken for granted and a tree to
Never be cut down
Friend is a phrase that should never be ignored
A term that should be respected and neve
Really questioned even due to a lack of
Understanding
Friends and family are something everyone
Should have- friends and family is something
Even fish have even though they may know it not
Life is a bullfight
replete with an ugly, snorting beast,
with murderous eyes and sharpened horns,
trying relentlessly to kill you
in the most painful way possible
while your friends and family in the arena,
drooling, laughing, and cheering,
eagerly await the outcome.
Life, as a gift, I cherish you
my chance to be loved
and cared for
by devoted family
to grow to be a woman
find my special love and
give life back with a family
which has grown
to build our family tree-
now four generations.
I am so grateful for
my fulfilled life.
Someday,
comes the sunset to
frame my awesome life-
the winding down
the peacefulness
to know upon this road
there is a bridge.
I love you, life
but, on that day-
though bittersweet
I taste your truth-
every cycle has an end.
“These are the days,” commencement speakers say,
“when you begin your climb to reach your goals,
which only YOU can set. Work hard and pray
for guidance as you fill life’s many roles.”
Accomplished ones mentor the young: “These are
the days you’ll smile about when you achieve
your greatest dreams. You’ll realize how far
you’ve come. Now persevere. You must believe.
Retirees hear from friends and family,
“These are the days you’ll get your second wind.
Pursuing new dreams calls for energy
and wisdom from beginning to the end.”
At every stage of life, we need to hear
uplifting words from others we hold dear.
A little life, a brand-new start,
Placed gently in a parent’s heart.
We ask for peace to guard their way,
And wrap them safely night and day.
May God grant wisdom deep and clear,
To guide their steps through every year.
With open doors and pathways bright,
And opportunity in sight.
With tiny hands and eyes so wide,
May heavenly favor be their guide.
A gift of hope, a love so true,
We bless this little life anew.
highbred
genteel, cosmopolitan
enchanting, winning, prospering
aristocrat, royalty, drudge, ragamuffin
suffering, laboring, struggling
destitute, deprived
lowborn
Growing up with older adults was not always fun,
but I learned many valuable things.
I saw how health was important,
in what they ate and their activities.
The church goers had faith,
faith to get them through the tough times.
Once retired they kept going,
no sitting and watching TV all day.
Sitting was not good for them,
so they died way too early.
Longevity may come from family genes,
but one can always improve their own life.
So here is to Longevity,
may we all live to be one hundred and ten.
