Premium MemberKerckhoff in the Rain

Do mem’ries of the Inverted Fountain
Well past midnight with Irene still remain?
Do you recall the way from the bus stop
To the Kerckhoff Coffee House in the rain?

“From the bus stop, start with Lot 2, then through
Each familiar, brick-clad, commemorative hall:
Slichter, Franz, Kinsey, Boyer, and Boelter -
Next - to Kerckhoff - you’re dry despite the squall.

Coffee and compelling conversation
In Kerckhoff with companions and good friends -
Lots of lively talk and entertainment
Before the evening finally ends.

That hilly Westwood campus paradise
Has mem’ries for each point of view I take -
Powell’s front steps, a pretty view of Royce,
The PM sun lighting both up from Drake.

Since that balmy summer night with Irene
A whole lot of water’s gone down the drain,
I just walk in my imagination,
And I look out my window, and I see rain.”

Cutting Short the Alphabet

Kinsey Millhone owned a single black dress
And wore it whenever she'd need it.
If you were a fan, you'd know all of her quirks,
For the alphabet books guaranteed it.

From "A is for Alibi" right up to "Y"
For "Yesterday," Kinsey did capture
The hearts of all readers, who counted the days
'Til the next book delivered its rapture.

Though Kinsey was fictional, she was entwined
With Sue Grafton, who made her seem living.
Like all her devotees, I owe Grafton thanks
For the joy that for years she's been giving.

The news just came down that Sue Grafton has died,
A loss for the world and for me,
Especially since when I catch up with "Y,"
There will be no more waiting for "Z."

Crimes In Mind

Ideas so many quibbled in my mind
I can't see what's the best, the better or I'm blind?
help me find the solution
my head aches for this question.

Crime novels I love to read
think the way criminal minds did.
Investigate like the CSI works, but
getting away with murder, what's that?

Burried alive under the moonlight
followed by gangster in the middle of the night.
Shouting, crying, panicking
how should I escape, I'm asking.

Hostage by kidnapper, well, if i'm rich
or being hold-up in the streets of witch
all of which could take place
you or I can be killed in such deadly grace.

I found in Kinsey Millhone's mystery
her style of defense in different scenery.
Bravery and courage I learned from Maggie
in the Moonlight Becomes You, she managed to be free.

Victims are many but criminals are out
evidences are weak, they're afraid to speak out.
How to get away from murder
is my question, give me an answer.

Getting away with murder
my concern is just an issue but further
problem may arise, if I die
you, them and many will cry.
