Topic: Birthday of poet Thabani Khumalo (April 10)
Form: Vertical Monocrostic
packing up my clothes,
looking good,
leaving the city,heading home,
I'm going destination Filabusi,
i'm happy,i'm joyous and alive,
the bus terminus a hive of activity,
the old battered bus has swallowed us,
yes i'm going destination Filabusi,
the drunken men sing,
old songs of their childhood,
heading home sweet home,
to see children before they go asleep,
in their beloved land of Filabusi,
the children perched on their mothers' laps,
glued outside the rattling bus windows,
told by their mothers to look out for the wild,
at Chipangali animal orphanage,
there we follow the marvelous Gwanda/Beitbridge road,
slithering on the edge of the mountains,
the deep silent gorges, not for the faint hearted,
on my way to Filabusi,
look at the gigantic exposed rocks of Mbalabala,
not to forget the mysterious burning mountain,
the great Mzingwane River we cross,
to the place of gold my home,
arriving at destination Filabusi,
pleasant view of the misty mountains,
the ever green fields and abundant waters of Fort Rixon,
coupled by the return of the chief,
dispersed by the colonial era to Gokwe,
we welcome you back chief Jahana Khumalo.
I wanna catch that old school
drift
Before the twerk was born and
the sex was swift
I want that stones on rooftops,
slow dance to the jukebox
Give me love letters and
romance
Show me how it was before the
lapdance
I want to share a love that
breathes
Like gentle winds to guide our
wings
Our love maneuvers sun swept
skies
When waves incline with vicious
tides and nature glares with livid
eyes
I'll share with you my place to
hide
We'll stand as one through
bitter frost
When joys are lost
I'll be your smile
I wait for you to come my way
Your parted lips pronounce my
name
Let dreams place me within
your reach, though crippled
hope may not seem keen,
keep savage faith in search for
me
And when your longing makes
you weak
I'll share with you the strength
in me
I want the man who came
because I'm worthy
Not the guy who waits to tell his
friends he had me
I want to love like nothing else
matters
I want to love no one else
matters
I want a love where I let
somebody own me
I want love to love me so much
that it yearns for me
I want love, real love
To find me.

The funeral was a surprise to all
writers
Bury me!!!
Poetry shouted
Bury me and leave no trace
If pen lost ground and laid
beneath
Then this hand too belong with
wreath
Words drifting in dark attractive
walls protecting poetry's insights
Drag lyrical baskets in caskets,
Make believe world,
Imagery paint me living,
Word breathing and I see the
light
Tell me lies,
Craft sweet lines,
Render me blind to the grave-
site in sight
It’s a bite from evaporated
rights,
Flashing poetry's resurrected
rights
Speaking wind flights as poetry
wishes to go deeper is session
nights
In-depth inspection 6-feet
beyond resurrection prospectus,
No light for revival,
Chew,
Spit,
Disintegrate,
No chance for survival - she's
dead - it’s final
Technically my brain is too
bright for
Binoculars searching creativity's
seeds in
Hives
Bending lives
Teary eyes
Blinking smiles
The funeral was a surprise to all
writers

This ladies and gentlemen is not
a poem, however it is absolutely
imperative that you read on.
I had an idea today. My heart
goes out to the girls who have
been visciously torn away from
their families but I wanted to
play a more active role in
showing compassion, so today I
went ahead and opened a page
who's aim and purpose is to
make a small difference one
poem at a time.
I, as an individual have little
influence and even less
resources but I thought if one
person can write and read one
poem in support of the
#BringBackOurGirls initiative,
collectively we could really make
an impact.
I am approaching every single
poetry soup member, no matter
where you're from in hoping
that you would please spare 5
minutes to visit and like the
page to show your support.
