And on Keyboard

My favorite story in the news,
Which likely garnered many views,
Involved a Swedish man and creature
In a human-interest feature.

Mattias Krantz, a young musician,
Used his chops and intuition
To teach an octopus to play
A piano in a clever way.

He purchased Takoyaki from
A market, thinking he’d become
The only keyboardist to use
Some tentacles to play the blues.

With bribes of crab to strike the keys,
This octopus learned how to please
And hit some notes just like a star
As Krantz strummed nearby, on guitar.

I read the tale of this duet,
A human and his ocean pet,
But you should go the extra mile –
The video will make you smile.

Broken China

Broken China is the second solo and final album by Pink Floyd’s keyboardist Richard Wright – it is a concept album based on Richard’s then wife Mildred’s battle with depression

Broken China
02/02/2025

Breaking water ripples beneath the moon,
A night of a thousand furry toys
scattered across the floor of her mind—
foggy fear tugs at the fringes,
like a runaway tide,
gripping her heart with cold hands.
The world feels more and more
like unfair ground,
her little ark lost in the black cloud,
drifting too far from the lighthouse,
unable to find safe shores.
She is a woman of habit,
But tonight, her norm is shattered
there is no respite
Only the drone of endless waves
Of expectations crushing over her.
Drowning,
Yet straining to reach the rail
that never seems to appear.
The blue room empty of light,
longing for radiant times
that never come—
she waits, desperately
fighting for a breakthrough
unsought, weight of hope
elusive as a butterfly

A Floating Market On the River

Floating Market on the River

A Thailand tradition
Large sun umbrellas
And boat roofs or hoods
And Asian conical hats
A bucket of cracked brown egg shells

A grandma quickly whips up
Egg, oyster and fresh, crisp bean sprout
In rice flour batter

Raw and cooked food
Vendors sell garden produce

And cooked food
Prepared right before one’s eyes
Plantain, banana, bean sprouts
Breadfruit
Coconut sugar, syrup and fresh coconut
Poof- a cloud of smoke surround the cook

Another vendor grills meat on skewers
She makes chicken, liver and sticky rice

Tart and sweet star fruit

Steamed sticky rice, coconut milk , sugar and banana inside its leaf
A sweet Thailand tamale

A live band: saxophonist, keyboardist and vocalist plays for donations

Fried quell egg
Fresh and dried spices
Fresh and dried sea food: shrimp, fish
Grilled scallop
Cooked noodles
Cooked squid, prawn, crab and fish
Green papaya salad
Boat brewed coffee
Soda pop
Distilled water
Tea
Beer
Blood cake
Pork
Rice noodles
