The Despicable Face of Love

How shall I love again if love leaves me in tatters?
Love invades my heart and turns it upside down
Driving at high speed adrenalin in my arteries where it matters
Little whether I make a scene or let love turn my heart into a clown

Sadists break at will
Claiming to love me when self gratification
Proves to be the prime mover in a deal
Filled with pretence, complacency and ingratiation

I find beneath dignity and beyond the pale
When love ensures a once technicolor
Tranquil, sedate heart love feelings fail
To pacify when the full horror

Hits me, singes my self confidence
Snips to nil the belief that love means well
While I ache and loathe the condolence
Love sends to my angels when Hell

Breaks loose
Driving me into a serene space
That commands love to vamoose
At high celerity and never again into my presence to show its despicable face.

Premium MemberCurry Favor

Oh I do like a good curry
spicy and hot,
with a lot of flavor,
fresh herbs and spices.
But I abhor your flattery
to fawn and curry favor
in vile ingratiation.
Such curry has a bitter flavour
and nips the bud of any favor sought.
It's a dish of foul curry and tainted rice,
topped with a sauce of greed and avarice.

A BALLOON FALLS TOO SOON

The same way a balloon eventually deflates
the way it falls fleetingly to the floor
the same way some items arrive in damaged crates
that's the way a lover sometimes decides to walk out the door

one day a balloon is flying high into the sky
the way it dances amidst clandestine clouds or the sun
that's the way a lover sometimes is forced to say goodbye
and has to admit that what was meant to be is finally done

when one lover takes that balloon and punctures it with a hole
and the air escapes with determined arrogance and hate
that's the way escape becomes one lover's ultimate goal
and the other learns the meaning of the word “ingrate”

it starts with ingratiation
Then somehow the other one becomes a prestidigitator
It begins with respect and adoration
then ends with dirty words not too much later

just like a balloon the air runs out and what once floated falls to the ground
but I suppose that's what happens when one's ego goes out of control
so the balloon can no longer seek freedom found
and one of them is responsible for puncturing the hole

Scenes From History Vault

My mind is euphoric from scenes historic
Assyrian chariots innovative wheels bristling Mesopotamian plains
Paring the ranks of each, dated infantry formation
In Greece, anesthetizing anvil of the Dorian invasion
Glorious bronze relics supplanted by cheaper iron distillation
Persian armies: Greek hoplites, Scythian archers; mercenary aggrandization
Shrinking rebel hordes in Asia Minor's wars of attrition
The venal nature of imperial Rome's persuasion
Crucifying a few, targeted rebels for cultural ingratiation
Devout, gentile Europeans crusading to Biblical heritage's door
Defacing cross with predations in route, arriving uplifting banner 'gainst infidel Moor
Normans in hordes splashing across the chilly, English channel tides
Under William the Conqueror's mantra, bridging the Anglo-Saxon divide

Adolescent Years

Immediacy of the moment doth youthful heart beckon
With trite passions that seem to standardize each deviation
Intemperate fodder with which sprouting limbs must reckon
Growing pains producing physical appetites beyond satiation

Carefree days frought with moments of indecision
Sheltered from responsibility; a meaningless depreciation
Time monotonously calibrated; habituated minion
Brokered existence reducing life to borderline depression

A guiding light flickering in the distant future makes a slight
impression
But wired circuits overloaded with transitory cares leads to
confusion
Producing electrical impulses that stimulate internal combustion
Sparking trip wire in mind that produces periods of oscillation

Seeking conformity, a bridge from isolated station
Tring to establish self esteem through peer group ingratiation
To the passing trends, fleeting fads making a necessary oblation
Conversely, using concrete value judgements to qualify each,
pretentious action
