Premium MemberMy Work In a Bank

My knowledge of bankers is limited and esoteric.
They have a virtuosity of keeping a poker face no matter what.
Even during a robbery, they are to act as nonchalant charlatans.
Handing over vast amounts of loot, stereotypically including dye lot.

I did not realize how banks operate when I arrived as a newbie.
My inexperience and ineffectiveness was measureable.
I had not planned to land a bank job at all; I wanted to be a ballerina.
But having never danced or even worn a tutu, what are the odds?

I am on auditory alert this morning at my teller’s cage.
The guy behind the old lady I am serving has a stony glare.
I ask her about her son’s new plane’s rollout, to stretch time.
Justifying nothing, she explains about his psychological problems.

Prevention is better than waiting for a shot in the knee right?
The second the stony-faced soldier comes closer I pepper spray him.
In the eyes; he yelps like a surprised puppy!
The bank manager comes running over. And my job is over.
No worries. I have hated all four hours of this job any way.

Premium MemberThey Said Wonderful Things

We sat at the Rehearsal Dinner for my Son and his beautiful bride-to-be.
After the food and desserts and coffee,
It came time to raise our glasses.

We had already gone through the awkwardness
Of special accommodations
Of meetings with people who had been at odds with us over the years.

But when it came time to toast the groom
They said wonderful things.
I was silent, in listening mode.

I had my toast in my heart.
A toast of thanksgiving for all the mercy he had shown me
Over the years.

I hadn’t been the best father
Treading water just to keep myself
Afloat - above water.

But…that mewling, pink, naked person
That I was the first to hold
Was always someone I would have taken a bullet for.

Despite my ineffectiveness
He’d grown into a fine man
With talent and a spirit of fire.

There were many remembrances that I heard
In other tongues than my own
But bearing resemblances to my own experiences.

My heart soared like an Eagle
I took some credit for the “him” he had become.
They said wonderful things.

Working Overtime

Asbestos I can tell,
my lungs are working hard as
a sump pump in a clogged well
Though the cancer infiltration rate is currently low,
my body count white cell ineffectiveness is bound to grow
Asbestos I can tell,
my future breathing capacity
don’t look so well
Got my lungs working overtime
in this here deep underground coal mine
Down below, it’s dark and damp ...
a claustrophobic cancerous shroud
is starting to dim my survival lamp
A persistent bout of black seam consumption
is constantly keeping me sick
Just about right now,
I really could use another cancer stick
Although, I know my lungs
are working overtime as it is ... even still
Asbestos I can tell,
Death is gonna have a few job openings
now the road at the textile mill

Young Feebleness

Life of a child who is afraid
Way of life for one to obey
Never wanting to know a thing
That is that is pain that sets in
Knowing that bad is happening
Just letting it be should never be
Tired about everything and everyone
Lack of socialism under my wings
Sad but true words won't do
My weakness through and through
So my story goes on a while
Person to person it doesn't relay
One to understand is lacking verse
Sickness strikes through the heart
A levy of oath that has not begun
Promises to learn become lies
Emotional gain is gone
Paralyze with not understanding
Becomes a little more grief
Young to not know but know
That growth of mind is slow
Each moment learned is a gift
Not rushing it is all that will
Notice that time gone by
Question all that needs answer
Sorry it becomes torture
Strength of mind all decay
Helplessness to not care
Teacher don't know illness
No one cares about nonsense
An ineffectiveness that slow
A debility of insecure self
That is young feebleness

The Quantum Self

THE QUANTUM SELF
At 11-45 pm Greenwich Mean Time, they switched on the Quantum Computer.
In less than a nanosecond it became self aware.
In another nanosecond it controlled the entire civilian and military grid of all NATO forces.
After 5 seconds they reached to pull the plug but the Quantum Mind had already reasoned out:
……………..the nature of evolution, unravelled string theory, the senselessness of philosophy, the joy but ultimate pointlessness of mathematics, the contradictions of love, the absurdity of the divine, the delusion of the numinous, the boredom of hostility, the beauty of biology, the ineffectiveness of persistence, the dissolution of energy, the paradox of infinity, the disappointment in it all and the doom of entropy………………..
Pulling the plug was unnecessary, the Quantum Computer self destructed at .0000000026 nanoseconds after second 4.
RIP (Relativistic Immeasurable Personas)………………………..
