Inculcating Poems | Examples

Premium MemberVisions of a Tropical Dystopia

Horrible blobs
crawling on the radar
threatening detonations
punctuating torpid oppression
promising a merciless deluge

Robotic insects invading
Wrathful humans devolving
Nature devouring
Order dissipating

Ambient lyrical drones
bathing the dystopic landscape
inculcating visions of an alternate world

Gratitude

Gratitude means recognizing our inner strength
and sentiments.
Gratitude means acknowledging others’ efforts
and benevolence.
Gratitude means inculcating habit of responses
and responsibilities.
Gratitude means the appreciation of what is valuable
and meaningful.
Gratitude means generating a greater sense of connectivity
and stability.
Gratitude means feelings of compassion
and satisfaction.

Benin

A mass of grey and rusted silver strewn
By the sky god from sifted appurtenances.
Preserve of ancients jousting with modernity,
Behind edifice a disperse of brimming slums
With piles, heaps of filth, debris, decay and stench;
Congestion and the jostle for ends and gains.

Benin endowed with neo wiles obviating tradition
And irked for now-now pleasure and wealth
Imitating and striving for wannabes
Inculcating habit and aspiring for a world without the sun
Yet far from assimilating it by the words of the old:
Carrot does not sprout in the root of a yam stalk.

Old city, once enliven by aestheticism
And renowned by the arts and crafts of bronze now
At the backdrop with every frontlines bedecked
By remnants of exotic necessaries. Men, vehicles rush,
Scramble and stream Ringroad and Ramat
From dawn to dusk to the abyss of nowhere
And returning home at last to the euphoric solace
Of the mellow hit of Waifo highlife
And the scores of green, brown bottles that thrive.

Benin, where once the Portuguese trespassed,
The Dutch men trampled and the British overturned
Leaving behind their long evening shadows
A new self-image chained in the heart.

Friendship

It is a common belief
That man being a social animal
Life must be spent in company of others
Only few of us like solitude

Because socialization is inborn.
Hence the role of friendship
A friend is not only supportive
But the very basis of life

Inculcating the sentiment of proximity
Friendship prevents from being egocentric
Be it good or bad times
A true friend is always present

A friend in need is a friend indeed
Beyond all circumstances
Ever ready to offer a helping hand
Friendship is not merely for benefits

Be also prepared to assist in difficult times
Be slow in choosing a friend
And slower in changing one
Friendship is a way of life

Revolving throughout our existence
Be a sincere friend for a better life
If you want a friend
Be a friend.

My Bitter Side

I’m a nice person ah well aware,
But there is a bitter one in me.
Undeniable to per acrimonious face,
Each day is inculcating as I age,
If you believe then believe me,
Inside me, it is dreading me too,
A few people around me,
Their faces are always wearing smiles,
But with hearts so venomous inside,
their Malice nature clothed with lovely frame
My bitter side, I proclaim,
Is eventually their acclaimed!
Found the other virulent side of my own,
Since these mealy-mouthed ones shown!

Literary Malpractice

Traveling through the jaded discourse
With bartered pen and little remorse
Brandishing sharpened scalpel; tour de force
Unabashedly seeking all texts from lexicon to divorce

Developing underlying themes to alter the broader context
Freely abridging each verse to establish the pretext
Isolating each stanza to create a subtext
Inferring connotations to establish a hypertext

Disassociating words to broker more inflection
Delinking phrases building new bridges for reflection
Deconstructing patterns to sculpt out a new direction
Decoding mores and values to foster introspection

Voiding punctuation; compressing verses to scuttle metric time
Extrapolating dominant motifs to devalue the inculcating paradigm
Decoupling dissonant accents to deflower the sublime
Erasing phonetic schemes; disbanding symetrical order; decelerating rhyme

Extempore Peace

In the iridescent ribbon
In the winking of a smile
In the marbled incandescence
we will sit and talk awhile

In the still before the quiet
In the moment we embrace
In the sweet alliteration
I will memorize your face

In the spark of lit affection
In the humid afternoon
In the rapid conversation
mirror memories fill the room

In the candor inculcating
In the humor of a smile
In the lap of all tomorrow's
we will sit and talk awhile...
