The Tempest

It was a hazy, hot humid evening
with the air conditioners all humming along
as the tube gave us a severe weather alert
like a vortex here came the violent thunderstorm

We heard the wild wind whistling dixie
as the gusts blew in from the southwest
so we hightailed it to the basement
our hearts rapidly beating in our chests

Our hearing senses were heightened
by straight line winds in our backyard
with the pounding rain hitting our roof
the storm downed some power lines

The tempest finally passed over
as we struggled in the dark
and turning on our flashlights
we finally ventured back on up

Looking out the back door
we noticed three fallen trees
relieved they didn't fall on any structure
as we felt the cool breeze on our cheeks

With no gizmos or gadgets to keep us entertained
like the Amish we retired to our beds
the now opened windows served as our air conditioners
as a slight cool breeze blew in

The next morning technology again thrived
as all the power in the house came back on
with my bedside clock flashing like a neon sign
with 9:17pm ingrained in my mind.

End of Summer Hike- Mystic

With summer coming to an end very soon
I went on a long hike to escape my feelings of doom
my trusty walking cane helping me with my stride
doubling as a weapon in case I spied a suspicious guy,

Inhaling the jasmine as I walked along the path
wanton bees buzzed too close by my head and my calf
the warm breeze and lingering birds got me thinking
whether or not they used morse code when they were blinking,

Coming to a clearing I decided to take a break
pushing my cane in the ground I used it as a stake
with the top tier of it holding my comforting cup of tea
and the bottom tier my trail mix scones for sudden bursts of energy,

At one with nature I picnicked thinking I was alone
enjoying every savory sip and bite of my trail mix scones
wondering why I suddenly felt twinges of discomfort
an army of ants on my scones had quickly descended,

Jumping up fast I got up just in time
before the intrusive ants could take another bite of my behind
gathering my things together I hightailed it back home
praying the Hitchcock like birds would leave me alone.

Premium MemberPretending You'Re Dead

Pretending you're dead can at times be the pits
It frightens the family it scares them to bits
They run around screaming and covering their eyes
They surely weren't ready for my big surprise

Pulling this off was a lead pipe cinch
Haven't seen Charlie or Aunt Abigail since
The dog's on the roof, the cat's up a tree
If the truth be known scared the crap outta me

Decided to confess and tell them the truth
Now my clothes are all ripped I'm missing a tooth
They didn't see the humour they said it twern't funny
Hightailed it outta there quick like a bunny

The moral of this tale listen carefully please
If you ever decide to pretend you're deceased
My advice to you wear armor or such
There's a chance you'll soon be needing a crutch

Reality

i breathe and breathe out
each second unravels
as i open my eyes
and see three stars just above me
an angel flies above me
playing his harp
(i think it's broken
cuz i hear nothing from above)

in front of me
Elvis plays his guitar-
or whatever that is in his hands-
i think it's worn out
cuz it sounds like
there is a bee humming around me
now,
how annoying can that get?

suddenly, mom comes before me
yelling with all her might
"you forgot to wash the dishes, Dan!!!"

now, Elvis has hightailed
who wouldn't?
even the angel with the broken harp
has flown away

so i return from the dead
to wash the dishes

how more unfair
life can get?
i can't even
rest in peace!!!
