Premium MemberHaversack Hope

Haversack hopes bring bitter crack
Next to nothing is brought back

Recalled promises all are lacking
Adding nothing but subtracting

Public messages are attacking
Better dreams start retracting

The finish line is protracting
People gather and start reacting

HUNTER

Went on hunting with revolver and gun.
I was zealous and wished to have some fun.
Took snacks in haversack: Bread butter bun.
Leisurely walked, whistling: Took a turn
Met roaring tiger and started to run.

         Lost all enthusiasm and vigor.
Trembled as followed by fierce tiger.
Yet to make a friendship, I was eager.
I was civilized but that was vulgar.
It didn't care but rushed to me in anger.
        No alternative to escape danger.
Me, ignorant how to press the trigger.

Tiger jumped and swallowed me: I was gone.

Premium MemberThree Into Two Dont Go

The pilot was drunk and the co pilot dead
Three passengers frightened of what lay ahead
The fact is their problem had maths at its roots
With three frightened men, but two parachutes

One was a scientist, ‘I’m saving the Earth
so give me a chute in lieu of my worth’
Another said, ‘I’m Brain of Britain, you know,
a chute means my brain can continue to grow’
The third said, ‘I’m hiking, a worldwide stroll,
no skills nor celebrity I can extol’

The Brain then insisted his knowledge be spared
‘You're just a rambler as you just declared’
The Scientist muttered some words of derision
‘It isn’t our place to make that decision’

Then one got cute, grabbed a chute and replied
‘I’m not waiting here until you decide’
He opened the door and stepped into the air
Leaving one parachute but two people there

The scientist couldn’t decide what to do
‘Could one parachute perhaps carry two?’
The rambler then slapped his new friend on the back
‘Old Brain-box just jumped out with my haversack.’

Premium MemberA Lovely Day

Today make sure make it good
spend it so you will enjoy
the forecast looks reasonably good
so let's go getting our feet employ

Fill the haversack with food and drink
kindle notebook pen and phone
that should be all I will need
bus pass too as forgetful I'm prone

So make for Scotland's gateway
taking three buses on the way
Perth in the north my destination
hoping it will be a sunny day

Arrive just before lunch have a coffee
take a walk over the river Tay
have pack lunch on woodland park
looking over Perth city wish could stay

As I write this I'm on way home
lovely blue skies with clouds white
sun's shine bright so fully
a lovely day it's been so right

In the Heat of the Battle

Spare me the goof,
O dear Captain,
Hear the rattling mess tins,
My dear old kit bag,
Worn out in action,
I lost my hold-all,
The spare drawers’ cotton,
A half-full water bottle,
Almost emptying my Haversack lunch,
The sun is scorching,
The camouflage is withering,
The cover is blowing out,
Silhouetted we crawl,
The impetus is gathering, hell no,
The attack is uphill, so soon,
O dear Captain,
Silver-tongued Captain,
Think so fast, so fast like never before.
