A hailstorm of brunch and some juice.
Sweet dough in a coffee cake boost.
A casserole got ‘em
with croissants on bottom.
When time for clean up, fed friends vamoose.

Hailstorm
Gold of wheat shimmers,
Sways in fields with cheerful spring,
A sudden storm tricks !

The Jackass Caught in a Hailstorm
By Elton Camp
When people begin to revile
Should we take it and smile?
Or should we angrily lash out
“How dare you say that!” shout
Thus to add fuel to the fire
And increase others’ ire?
The ancient advice, proven sage
You should not give way to rage
For the thing that we should
Is not speak evil, but good
Rather than with anger burn
Hurtful words do not return
Inwardly, I realize this is best
But my resolve is put to the test
While watching a neighbor’s ass
I saw the animal’s lack of class
A hailstorm the jackass caught
To escape, he could do naught
His loud braying was a mistake
It’s better the hits to silently take
So unlike the mindless jack
Stay calm when under attack
(Note: This speaks to verbal attacks
only. A person under serious, physical
attack or with reasonable expectation of
one has a right to defend self and others.
“Turn the other cheek” is widely misinterpreted.
A “slap” is an insult. If somebody deliberately
breaks my arm, I am not to say, “Here, break
the other one.”)

A Jackass Caught in a Hailstorm
By Elton Camp
Most who offend me, I can hold back
So, from them I don’t take much slack
It’s usually enough if I just coldly say,
“How do you dare talk to me this way.”
My position often carried some power
So that those around me in fear cower
I had influence on who was to be hired
Likewise as to those who should be fired
But there is another place where I do stay
That it never seems to work quite that way
And it is when I am in my very own house
There, whatever , I’ll be quiet as a mouse
When my wife and daughter begin to revile
I’ve learned it’s best to say nothing and smile
It very plainly doesn’t matter what I may say
Those two are going to have things their way
When a hailstorm the jackass has caught
To protect himself, the jack can do naught
He can only bray, as control he tries to fake
But he is better off, silently the hits to take
