Gusting Poems | Examples

Premium MemberThere Was Nobody

There was nobody who could come and weep at his graveside.

So we invited the misty mountain, the gusting moorland

And meandering little river where he had sat down and fished;

But, they were all previously engaged. still, we went anyway.

Someone had to lower the coffin...and songs refuse to sing

If nobody is there to listen.

Rainfall After Rain

Drop got dropped,
Formed inside a rain.
Thought the way about,
And a possible aim.

Praying also chanted
For getting along pure.
Lake to get blended,
Making itself secure!

Worry is getting fears
May for a junk yard!
The crushed facing years
Weeping along a mirror.

Reside presence beneath
On upon leaf alone.
Deeply taking a breath,
Waiting another cyclone.

Wind gusting along,
Clattered leaved pines!
Shook trees among,
Making moments divine!

Tiny got shined,
Got a running hand!
Kept it carefully aligned,
Enlightening us as friends!

Premium MemberFalling Thoughts

The snow lightly fell
bringing thoughts with gravity
Windy, some areas hard to see
Wishes remain, things will go well

I felt the soft, cold touch
on my skin with gusting air
Hoping things will be fair
not wanting to ask for too much

Premium MemberWhiling Away The Hours

Atop yellow sunflowers
a dragonfly and a fairy
were playing, whiling away the hours
romping and being merry.
It is generally believed
that fairies protect sunflowers;
plans to pick one would be ill-conceived,
fairies wield magic powers.

As scarlet inks, a spent sun,
and ebony sculpts silhouettes;
a brisk breeze brings an end to their fun;
gusting strong as the sun sets.
Dragonfly and fairy take wing,
vanishing along with the sun;
as crickets chirp, while nightingales sing,
and shadows merge into one.

Kentucky Mustang

October gallops in as stolid as a gray mare,
a blunt wind snorts furiously through autumnal trees.
Foliage rattles, but does not fall, it clings still
to green stems.

Appalachian backwoods have tough roots,
shod as they are into an earth salted
with a dark gritty ore.

Bears are foraging and reaping,
their black silky pelts clamber over gusting winds
to reach the furthest fruits
before first snows overburden stoic pines.

Today the sky is unharnessed
and racing at full tilt
It whips my raw lips like a wet mane,
it rears up to stamp down upon its own
animated onslaught.

I adjust my rucksack and reshoulder a shotgun
grin, eyes watering
caught under the stampeding gale,
buffeted now by its muscular flanks.

I need to bridle this striding wind,
to halter its headlong charge,
or better yet just surrender -
turn my back on it,

let it ride me
as we leap down from the hilltops
whooping it up like cowboys.

Premium MemberGlower of the Heap and Holler

Stepped out on the deck as rain begins, Wind.
This is NOT a Summer storm with rainbow peaks.
Sans rescindment, the tip of the iceberg is here.
Leaves tickled by playful drops, flirtation of petting.

A smattering of autumn’s crop of leaflets color
the floor of the backyard moss. Betwixt seasons,
the late hurricane Helene gently rocks the boat,
for now, until she shows her victorious strength.

A low rumble as if a stomach needs to be fueled.
Not to be fooled, this fray will show its muscle.
Thank God for the warning, and early at that.
In past years, God’s mercy was needed in the trenches.

Inland Georgia, not so bad, but we need to stay indoors.
Stops along the Florida coast are more precarious.
Heavy rainfall, fast moving, tropical force winds
headed in my direction. Possible spin-ups.

It’s all a curiosity! A break from the mundane. Insane
to realize tomorrow it will be intensely gusting. Candles
might be lighting up my living room. Staying charged,
and in the know. Glower of the heap and holler comes soon.

Premium MemberDeflated

Balloons they float
Across the sky
In rainbow mood
Excessive high

Intruding birds
Like cloudless thoughts
With do's and don'ts
With musts and oughts

Above the trees
Rooted, they cheer
They dream of floating
Far from here

The gusting breeze
Can guide your joy
Away from ground
That can destroy

The brightest hopes
Of friendship's love
Enduring winds
Of push and shove

But bright the sky
If dull the heart
The journey home..
Yet, first depart

From dreamscape fields
From comfort clouds
To launch away
From chains and shrouds

The freedom of
The endless blue
Of eyes and skies
So pure, so true

Wind

It creeps around the corners
It moans about the eaves
A rapid fork of lightning
Sparks beyond the trees
My pulse gallops skyward
As a sudden fear sets in
The birds have ceased their chirping
Will this madness never end?
Oh, it makes my blood run cold
To hear the gusting squall
It creeps around the corners
And sprints halfway down the hall
Make it stop, make it stop,
I can’t bear it anymore
As a blast so strong
Stabs at my very core
Then morning dawns at last
And the sun peeks out
My breath again resumes
Going in, going out
Until the restless night
Once more comes to call
Monstrous Zephyr from the West
Endlessly casts its pall

A Stranger in Foreign Lands

I live among my very kind, equal in blood, but with a different mind. I always feel, I am alone, a tiny pebble in a pile of stone. Silent complaints and barren demands, I am a stranger in foreign lands.

Sleepless nights, wandering thoughts, entwined emotions of dreams I sought. Regions of sorrow and moments of pain, dark distant murmurs that drive me insane. Tearful eyes, and signs of fear, but in my nadir I must persevere.

On cold winter nights and in long summer days, I look for hope, in a praiseful phrase. Or a word of respect, once in a while, a cheerful laugh, or a comforting smile. A pat on the back, or a shake of the hand, signs of contentment that make me stand.

With a longing heart, I opened my eyes, and looked above, at the laden skies. I saw glimpses of memories, in a distant village, fading whispers and a shattered image. As clouds of emotions roamed high above, with the gusting wind I send home my love.

Premium MemberLerking Storm

Fast asleep in a reclining chair, woke from slumber, by crashing thunder
Suddenly the lights go out and the TV flickers in and out
Darkness comes about, silence of the TV seems to just shout
Dazed and confused, looking for a source of light to use
Stumbling all about stubbing my toe, ouch!
Whipping winds and heavy rain broke out a window pain
Wind and rain come gusting threw
Blowing over a lamp that can't be used
Frighten dog and a scaredy cat whimper and cried
All the while looking for a place to hide
Shoring up the window blocking out wind and rain
Out of hiding comes the cat and Great Dane
Freezing weather out of doors, inside the fireplace roars
Cuddled up with my cat and Great Dane, here I'll stay until
the storm is contained

Premium MemberGlimpses of Summer

Down the majestic mountain, over the grassy knoll,
Themes verdant, chromatic, summer’s vistas scroll,
Rustling zeal of willows, as zephyrs-avid gently blow,
Propelling tides of vigor, where rivers burbling flow.

Cherishing blooming prairies, birds frolic and trill,
Gliding over scenic valleys, reveling flight of thrill,
Circling back to realm serene vying mirthful trees,
Warbling soft melodies amidst buzzing beats of bees.

Scattering gloomy shapes, clouds tenebrous reign,
Floating haze over horizon, shrouding vibrant terrain,
Unleashing with gusting winds feisty rain showers,
Swirling, whirling mid-air, delicate petals of flowers.

Storm cedes to calming breeze waltzing long shadows,
Quivering in twilight, scintillating face of meadows,
Luring glances of smiles where blossoms of lilies cajole,
Enthralling enamored eyes, as leisurely people stroll.

Inscribing motifs amethyst, as day’s journey slows,
Refracting sun’s golden rays, skyline-amber glows,
When passions of lovers, to blushing eve disclose,
Secret lyrics of passion, hearts romantic compose.

No One Stops the Storm

There’s a storm and it is raging.

It crackles deadly light.

There’s a hurricane-a-waging

A war we can not fight

There’s a powerful wind-a-roaring

Gusting money as quick as can be

There’s wondrous drops-a-pouring

Tastes of power, sweet and beastly.

No soul escapes the gales–

Many victims wound up dead

Their cold blood freezes into hail

And give succor to its spread

Most knew the storm must stop

So they gathered on a shore

On the waves one stood atop

And the storm began its war

The Commander screamed ‘attack!’

And some fought, but still had lost

The storm let out a wild crack!

And there lied The Commander on the cross

They didn’t die in vain

As cloud poured of chloroform

The rest cried out in pain

“Shall we never halt the storm?”
