"Because you've deepened the conviction in my soul. I am woman.” Ray Burton

Restful repose.
Seemingly without clothes,
Yet adorned with a quilt.
Serene, no concerned guilt.
Appearing to slumber.
Six women in number,
Or is it just one
In stages til life’s done?

Woman, slyly awake and alert.
Wiles of a temptress she'll assert.
The delicate virgin surrounded by flowers.
Buds turn to blooms as do woman’s powers,
Becoming full and plentiful.
The Painting acts as a sentinel.
Through the ages, she loves and will reproduce,
By gentle round contours her body will induce.

Creating splendid sensuality,
She possesses untold morality.
Depicting an older woman back to the virgin so grounded.
Her gown in purple and blue the maiden is surrounded.
Fertile spirals depicted swirling in reverse,
Showing ever changing woman, in the universe.

Premium MemberDas Lied Fur Alma - With Apologies To Gustav Mahler

Dark music floods my chamber
Like a slowly rising tide
That laps against the silence
Where my fondest dreams reside.

Dark music bathes the morning
With its languid, liquid tune,
Conundrum-like concerto,
Every note a cryptic rune.

Dark music wakes me gently
From the warm embrace of sleep
And sings to me of treasures
I can have, but never keep.

Premium Memberdear Gustav -

oh ...

Gustav, how you pique the senses
          captured passion's plural tenses

lovers twined in percale folds
          caught supine with spattered golds

porcelain dolls in fetal slumbers
brushed sublime in tans and umbers

bold, the bleeds of Burnt Sienna
          stippling scapes of fair Vienna

Yellow Ochre, Prussian Green
          Cadmium Yellow, Blue Indanthrene

trees like soldiers, lilting boughs
          abstractions spun of silken vows

ceilings meant to thus adorn
          gilded graces - Heaven-borne

waters, tranquil - tresses, bare
          a world composing textures, rare

you struggled long to e'er refine
          your critics and uncommon line

subjects some then found appalling
          yet, remained, your faithful calling

imbibing absinthe, sans a chaser
life you sketched with no eraser

and while we mortals can but dream
you left the world your gauzy gleam

so death would not define the worth
of genius meant to shake ...

the earth.

Premium MemberAll Art Is Erotic, Gustav Klimt

"All art is erotic", quote from Gustav Klimt

The Kiss... Gustav Klimt
Son of a Bohemian gold engraver
Childhood marked by poverty
Influenced by Japanese art
Developed his talent early in life
Created his own style like no other
Took symbolism and eroticism to new heights
Glorifying the female body
Evocatively exotic and erotic
Lacquering it with gold leaf
Controversial during his lifetime
Now on display in Vienna
Those not destroyed during the war
Traveling in world exhibitions
Or sold for multi millions to art collectors
Unfinished paintings when he died
World-wide fame celebrated anniversary
One hundred and fifty years
Death and Life
A golden tribute to Klimt
