Whispers of Youth
Dusty boxes, like forgotten books, Hold chapters of quantum leaps— My first steps, tiny and determined, Leading to a world of wonders.
Goat’s milk, flavored with Grenada nutmeg, A remedy for cow’s blandness, And lactose intolerance—the secret code Of those simpler days.
Cod liver oil, Sunday mornings’ ritual, Bitter drops to ward off unseen foes, Mumps, measles, whooping cough— Childhood’s battles etched in time.
Curiosity fueled my quest: Pebbles, night crickets, butterflies— Each a treasure, carefully collected, One line at a time.
And that snarky bird, Caged, then set free— Freedom’s squeak of happiness, A lesson etched in feathers.
The kitchen window, a gateway, Its slight squeak echoing freedom. The bird, banana thief turned guardian, A debt repaid in whispers.
Childhood memories preserved, Not just atop that distant hill, But in the flutter of wings, And the quiet moments we cherish.
Feel free to add more verses or share more memories—I’m here to listen and weave them into poetry! ??

I am no where near
that great Cicada
comback moment.
Much like a comet,
or the invasion of Grenada,
I'll have to watch a YouTube vid
to asertain the gist of it;
why so short lived,
why so loud?
The mating call aroused,
a trillion Magicicada*
live then die enmasse,
and we are blessed
to have witnessed this,
nature's orchestrated symphony
*magicicada: From Ancient Greek mágos, “magician” + Latin cicada.
The male [magicicadas] aggregate in chorus centers and call there to attract mates. Mated females lay eggs in the stems of woody plants. Within two months of the original emergence, the life cycle is complete and the adult cicadas die. Later in that same summer, the eggs hatch and the new nymphs burrow underground to develop for the next 13 or 17 years. ~Wikipedia

Immerse yourself for
Some day how you feel
Will be the sum of how lived.
Those existential experiences
Now melted into one
In that one present moment.
As you stand and gaze at the golds of the sun
Noticing the reflections
Every nuance of colour
Bathing in the serenity
That never fails to come.
For most certainly this will be the sum
Of gazing long
at the
golds of the
sun.

Release me
Give me that touch
The one I need so much
Apply a little pressure
But not a lot
And don’t stop
For I am tangled
Strangled right up in a knot
Hard as a rock
Release me from this spiralling, spinning spatial awareness
Of never ending twisted taught ness
And tightness and
Terrible wrongness
Give me that touch
Don't make it too light
alright...

long ago let the truth be told a summon to bargain baseball please...
triumphant please, down to my knees corporate sneak
shattered between what once known onto a perfect home,
Stained glass window through a verse Scottish dull ointment...
Temper left hotter then it is in Grenada

Green lush vegetation
of breath-taking beauty
enveloping fertile landscape
in scenic tapestry, while
Radiant sunshine's golden splendor
delightfully kissed sun-bathers
lounging on exotic beaches
or taking invigorating dips in
Exquisite waterfalls crystal clear streams
splashing down in majestic grandeur
from incredible heights, dropping
jaws in awe, as eyes behold
Nature's abundant blessings lavished
upon this tiny child swaddled
in spice-scented napkins
Aspiring, striving, amidst social
and economic hardships
to forge, to reach, and fulfill their
Destiny, guided by faith
perseverance and fierce ancestral courage
As...one People... one Nation.

I made my way to the Airport
Board my flight, destination…New York
Secured my seat I began staring out the window
Ready set for the spectacle display on show
Lift off...and away we go
Turning to our left like a boomerang-bow
Above the clouds my eyes start explore
There are things about the clouds I do adore
As we pass over the Island of Grenada, I saw
Beautiful cloud formation...encore
There was a gate guarded by two Angels with spears
Inside sat a King proud and fierce
Flanked by Angels in garment white and clean
Guarding his kingdom from us… or so it seem
It was the most beautiful thing I’ve seen
No dream, all real what I saw
I just love staring out the window…
