I swim in sorrow, deep and wide,
Against a tide that won’t let me hide.
Each thought is bleak, each stroke is weak,
My breath is weak, I cannot speak.
If I stop to think, I start to sink.
My eyes glue shut if I blink.
I'm slunk in a glum, glug slug of gunk.
Stuck in the oooze of blues, I'm sunk.
My arms grow weary, my eyes are teary.
My fate is bleary, dreary, weary.
For grief is a sea, land-locked in self pity,
In which we wallow, until we swallow, nitty-gritty.
He said he will do it or die
I huffed, “Okay, give it a try.”
He starts with our pool
The silly young fool
He wants to drink Canada Dry
I dashed out to have winter fun
To skate on the lake in the sun
At zero degrees
The surface will freeze
I’m soaked: It was just above one
moored in glade and rill
resting in claggy stodge
boggy green and juicy with rain
my walk sloshes with plunger feet

Drink it on down
Glug, Glug, Glug
My devil is brown
Sip, Sip, Sip
Between the lips
Damn this stuff
And its poisoness grip
It drains the life
It drains the cash
And still demands
To keep some stash
Put it in a closet
Put it in a shoe
The only one fooled
Is the person named YOU!
