There’s digital this
And digital that
But most is too much
For me to grab at
I thank the Almighty
That as far as I know
No one can grow
Digital coffee.
But this thought
Of digital drink
Makes the real mind
Pause and think
I’ll pass on that scheme
And I would never
Buy their new clever
Gigabyte ice cream
Gigabyte ice cream
Of course is a thing
A microscopic
Dippin Dots’ offspring
But what is the point
To ingest that stuff
I’m unplugging my life
Coz enough is enough

Random (dis)information’s endless scream,
Fibs and tidbits attacking by the gigabyte,
People exhibiting what for lunch they’ll bite,
In a chattersphere adoring the latest meme.
Too long have I been told where people go,
Though my own location doth slip my mind.
Relief from babble and babel is hard to find,
When dull connections by the minute grow.
For the solace of solitude I sometimes thirst,
To hear what I think, not what others say.
The urge to glue eyes to phone I can’t obey,
Why log in when I'm putting my sanity first?

Is the world moving a little too fast?
We ain’t exactly following naturally along
Engiven of unnatural timelines to past
Have we what it takes to feel belong?
Technology is becoming easier they say
I do not find myself learning even though
I am not even forgetting an app yesterday
It just doesn’t represent to transpire new from old
We used to memorise something because it’s important
We lose our phone now… who do we call?
Have you a life without technology a better reason?
Why do you need so much gigabyte when you have a mind made for?
I accept technology and learn it for purely work
In terms of reliance I stubbornly will not
We are humans losing humanities inward
We are not looking anymore but judging import
Like an epic disaster… we are influence
But we are selfishly mindful to simply move along
Unlike a skeptic dreamer… we a continuance
Have you the correct frame of mind to only belong?

Why am I writing this sonnet for class?
On a beautiful day, like today is,
But I must, so I’ll make it very crass
This is, sadly enough, like a pop quiz.
Usually I’d be watching some Netflix,
So why, Mrs Steinberg, why make me write?
You make me swear it upon River Styx
Each word written takes up a gigabyte
I’ve used allusion and apostrophe
To enhance my beautiful sonnet here
I’ll even try using hyperbole
This pain I can only barely endear
But wait! This line here means we are almost done
Goodbye, I leave the lime light now, have fun.

You work up the gigabyte of courage it takes
one to cross the gigabit gulf that separates us
on this vast and coldly digital sea of loneliness
I ponder a terabyte's worth of polite words of
of reluctant decline that serve but to make the
depressing of a button, less depressing for me
Then, I precisely calculate the optimal phrase
that will satisfy my purpose and the data storage
required for a rejection, in 140 characters or less

Made quite an impression, it seems
On the chair I've been glued to so long
The indentation is an exact replica
Of my rear, hmmm, sounds like a song
Me bum and me chair are going steady
Have been since joining P-Soup
Methinks maybe atrophy is setting in
So I think I'll shoot some hoops
It's surely a result of this computer age
Our bodies will soon have no use
Our heads will be the size of basketballs
But our bodies will be an excuse
Excuse to hold up our 100 pound heads
With it's 250 gigabyte storage space
We'll actually need some kind of device
Or we'll continue to fall on our face
Made quite an impression, it surely seems
On the chair I've been glued to so long
Thinks I'll go for a ride in my old jalopy
An old Dodge I bought for a song

Gigabytes of Microchips
The taste of technology
Now the flavor of need
The digital dellicasies
Fuel hungering greed
The binary breakfasts
And microchip meals
Login to your lunch
As a little mouse steals
The computerized cookies
That make up the file
You thought you deleted
To feed your denial
Cause after you eaten
What's under your .net
You'll always be hungry
For all you can get
An addon addiction
Downloading delight
The fix of a forward
Anytime day or night
Memory drives the surfer
To search every site
With an infinite hunger
For the next gigabyte
