Soothsayer SueAnn is a scary woman in town
You can ask anyone; her reputation is solid and sound.
She has an amazing talent for foreknowing
predicts new babies before their mommies are showing

warms women away from men who abuse
predicts storms and tornadoes not seen on the news
SueAnn has a knack for knowing, her power is growing
Her talent is especially keen in the winter when it is snowing.

Premium MemberWhat Tomorrow Brings

It had been a long time since she had peeked
Into the future using the tea leaves,
Happy to accept what each day wreaked,
Aware that foreknowing oft deceives.

Into the future using the tea leaves,
One morn she accidentally looked;
Aware that foreknowing oft deceives,
The cup sitting unwashed as she cooked.

One morn she accidentally looked,
Across the sink and down the insides,
The cup sitting unwashed as she cooked,
Eager to share each secret it hides.

Across the sink and down the insides,
New grandchildren she saw in the cup,
Eager to share the secrets it hides,
Whispering the dame ought to wise-up.

New grandchildren she saw in the cup,
Many happy weeks and sad days too,
Whispering the dame ought to wise-up;
For the years she had left were few.

Many happy weeks and sad days too,
She smiled and gave the cup a rinse,
For the years she had left were few,
Past cares completed, few fears to evince.

She smiled and gave the cup a rinse,
Happy to accept what each day wreaked;
Past cares completed, few fears to evince,
It had been a long time since she had peeked.

Crunch

Crunch

"I don't want to read something I already know
or which is going to slide down easily:
there has to be some crunch,
a certain amount of resilience."
Poet John Ashbery.

He wasn't the first one
to say it, but crunch
is spot on, as they say.

Life could be soft
and easily digestible, I guess – –
if that's your preference.
Actually, it might be mine, but I was blessed
when you get right down to it,
to have crunch enter in without my
asking or even foreknowing.

But it's one thing
to receive our days as crunch,
quite another to dish it out
to others.

I would rather not
go down as cream of wheat,
pablum to my peers.

And when I'm laid away for good,
there will be many a mastication--an
eternity of earth chewing away,
crushing the strongest box
or urn. Whether worms or beetles
or the heaving and moaning of
my loamy home--

May my final sound be
a cosmic crunch.

Restless

relentless restlessness,
a foreknowing of intention,
to put aside feelings that capture the heart, that cause such massive tension,
sorting through uncertainty,
grasping his love, and gripping his hand,
please help me, lord, to heal the past, help me to understand,
place your peace within me,
a knowledge of love so true,
every ounce of stress and heartache,
every struggle that i go through,
this is a constant battle,
for we choose to love your ways,
the enemy sees what our hearts meant to be, so he fights to pull us away,
in your presence, our victory stands,
you redeemed what once was broken,
through your words our faith rises above all things in everything that you have spoken.

Reflections

keep my union bound, let time stand silently still,
from a distance of remembrance i can catch a glimpse of my father's will,
like staring into mirrors, we were made so much alike,
staring into the eyes of my future, where were you all of my life,
catching glances, i knew in that moment, intuition through god's season,
not knowing the grander purpose that lied beyond my reasons,
with peace of mind, he showed me, this all was for love's sake,
so with that reassurance, i knew, that this was no mistake,
the piercing stare of familiarity, have i ever met you before?
were we once connected in heaven, were we friends before we were born?
did god attach neuroses, foreknowing we'de meet again,
did he know the hand we would lend one another, through his love we would be
friends?
at the gates of heaven i'll meet you, the lord will allow you to see my soul,
and the understanding not known to us now, forever will then be told.

"a woman's heart should be so hidden in christ that a man should have to seek
him first to find her."
