Christmas Morning

Christmas Morning

When I wake up on Christmas morning
and I check under neath that ole Christmas tree
to see what God has brought to me
I will find you wrapped up in red ribbon

Countdown Before Christmas

Just like the countdown before Christmas
I’ve experienced these things a hundred times

15, 14, 13, 12, 11,

Giddy bubbles rise through my stomach
at the thought of a movie I’ve seen twice before.
My legs tremble as I walk
the same path I take to school each morning.

10, 9, 8, 7, 6,

Always counting down to moments of bliss.
A thousand flavours in the market,
but all I want to taste is you.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0

And then it starts all over again.

Christmas Time

Christmas time; Christmas time; Christmas time is here. All that shopping you have done, make it so dear. Christmas time; Christmas time; Christmas time is here. The tree looks rare and not so bare. All those gifts for mom and dad make this time the best you've ever had. You've waited all the year and now it's here. So don't despair; you can do it all again next year. Happy Birthday Baby Jesus You are the Reason for the Season.

Christmas Without You

If I woke up on Christmas alone
My day would be so very blue.
Life has never been the same
Since the day I had met you.

It is my favorite time of the year
To spend alone with the one I love
I had even thought you must have been
Sent from the One up above.

So glad we never went our separate ways
You bring me hope yet still today
When we wake up together
You brighten up my day

Will always love you, I guarantee
My life is now complete, too.
Our future we cannot yet see
I just know all I ever need is you.

Merry Christmas

The sun shining on a sunny day is dull,
compared to your handsome face.
You complete and make heart so full,
I can't resist your style and grace.

All the stars in the heavens are a few
when it comes to how I feel about you.
Each day I fall in love with you again,
I enjoy each new facet of you.

The way you look at makes me giddy like
a school girl, falling head of heals for the
first time.
I look forward to spending a lifetime with
you my darling.
I said all that to say, Merry Christmas my
love……

A Repugnant Christmas

Twas the week before Christmas,
and all through the house,
not a value was stirring,
not even a mouse,
loot socks were hung by the coalfire with care,
in hopes that saint nick soon will be fair,
the traitor bird mocked at the fair weather lie,
while the mouse told the story of green apple pie,
on dancer not prancer screamed the old nasty pinch,
who is a class, a class with no flinch,
one that is owned, that you put in your cinch,
I'll place a crumb here,
then I'll take you all there,
hey dear, do you have a few bills at your near,
for my go along luck, for my last can of beer,
because as you know,
my mouse traps are deer,
and I am the one who scares it all near,
if I give it to who,
they'll just want to cheer.

Here Comes Santa-Dave

Here comes Santa-Dave, here comes Santa-Dave
Decorating our front door
Poinsettias dressed in garland yards
Red and green galore
White lights shining through holly clusters
A sprinkling of Yuletide luster
Our front porch, a holiday card!

Here comes Santa-Dave, here comes Santa-Dave
Putting up the tree
Silver tinsel draped ornaments
In festive finery
Heirloom angel in cloth and lace
Lending us tradition's grace
Glittering in merry vestments

Santa-Dave knows what we crave
Rumballs and gingerbread his Christmas art
Baked in sugary snowflake surprises
And growing his wife's grinchy heart...
By three sizes

An Ode To Christmas

Christmas.
Believe the story, the prophet, the myth?
Is it all about festivity, excessive drinking and gifts? About family, relatives coming together that otherwise wouldn’t mix?

Do you see it as a meaning?
Peace on earth, will it ever seriously exist?
Opposing soldiers playing football before sending the bullets flying over the ditch?

Christmas.
A tree in the corner, mince pies, brandy butter, foods so excessively rich?

Is this your Christmas? From your earliest memory to this present itch? Itching to make all things lovely, snow falling, reindeers flying, mistletoe to get that kiss?

Or do you think about the others?

People who’ve never sat with family pulling crackers singing songs? People who live with no money scratching scrapings from used bowls? Should we see it as an opportunity to help the people with no families, the families with no homes?

Christmas.
All the best to you and yours.
Enjoy the festivities but please remember what JC would want you to remember - the forgotten discarded lives of the lost souls.

Long Ago At Christmas Time

Long ago at Christmas time.
By Stanley Russell Harris
The new mad author
And A poetry soup honourably mentioned poet
7th January 2017

Long ago at Christmas time.
It always use to snow.
We kids slid down hills on dustbin lids.
We really did you know.

Rich kids, well they had posh sledges.
Bought from the shops, you see.
But we went down them hills as fast as them.
On our dustbin lids did we!

Once I used a plastic bag.
It really did slide fast.
And I felt every blinking bump.
And had a real sore hand!

I used my hand as a brake.
Or in the book I would go.
As did some of those posh sledges!
They really did you know.

I wish it had snowed this Christmas.
I really do you know.
As now plastic bags are stronger.
They really are you know.

But sadly, there was no snow.
No posh sledge or plastic bag could I see.
And now we all have wheelie bins.
No dustbin lids have we.

We cannot destroy government property.
And remove the wheelie bin plastic lids.
Although if we could. I’m sure we would.
Slide down that hill merrily.

Winter Sonnet

A man ready to propose to his girlfriend, on Christmas Eve taking a walk through the icy park acknowledge and analyzes the snow and the love of his acknowledge.

Beautiful snow repeatedly never seem to amaze my inner conscious by those curious eyes invading more than a glance. I look at your small boots printed in the snow as I follow them.As you already know that I will follow you to the end of earth. A snowflake falling mischievously out of curiosity may land cautiously with love yet daring to defy against the wrath of nature that wouldn't stop me to follow milady.I devote myself to the ground you walk on, in all honesty, you may as well have landed on my heart for I felt the impact. I yet to relinquish more than your boot announcing thy arrival s there isn't enough land where I wouldn't follow you for I am your winter love. I will walk a thousand miles after your footprints in this beautiful s, now again and again, forever I follow thee willingly with nothing but my undying love Merry Christmas I meant "Will you marry me?" as he gets on one knee in the snow waiting for evolution

Whats Up Doc

Bored out of my skull in my hospital bed
You’ll be here for Christmas, the consultant said
What happened next made me bubbly as Fanta
Two nurses came in, they were dressed up as Santa

My blood pressure took by a couple of flirts
With very long legs and very short skirts
One just bent over so it’s not surprising
The other one told me my blood pressure’s rising

You won’t need a Rabi, a priest or a vicar
Ain’t nothing wrong with this fella’s ticker
Its pounding away like Cozy Powell’s drums
You don’t expect nurses to have shapely bums

One licked her lips and... crikey, she’s winking
What a good job she don’t know what I’m thinking
Oh Lord, something’s happened just like I had feared
I really could do with a full knee length beard

There’s nothing gallant about what’s in my head
With them in their scanty gear, ermine and red
But I think they’ve guessed cos there ain’t no disguising
The sweat on my brow and my temperature rising

They sit on my bed and I smirk like I’m bolder
The next thing I feel is a hand on my shoulder
The Santas remain in the world of the sleepy
In this world there’s matron...
Not sexy
Just creepy

The Christmas Box

Snow hadn’t fallen overnight, but a heavy frost had covered the ground
and in the morning, a little boy ran downstairs in his dressing gown.
He could see the tree lights, as he skipped his way down the hall
it was Christmas day, many years ago; Father Christmas had made his call.
And there under the Christmas tree, was a rather large cardboard box
full of carefully wrapped presents of toys, sweets and new football socks.

The best present waiting for him was a Hornby Electric Train
and there was an Airfix kit for him to build a model aeroplane.
Also there was a cowboy hat, with a holster and toy silver gun
and some new Dinky Toy cars, which would bring him a lot of fun.
It was certainly to be a time for him, to play and play all day,
so when the Queen’s speech came on, he just had to sneak away.

He went into another room and saw the large cardboard box
taking off his shoes he climbed into it, wearing his football socks.
In his mind he was in a boat, sailing the southern seas
looking at the stars in a foreign sky, sails flapping in the breeze.
He played for hours in his boat; it brought him so much joy
a cardboard box turned out to be, his favourite Christmas toy!

Gift For the Ages

Co-written with Linda-Marie Bariana P.E.P.S. “Sweetheart”

How fitting that One from A town so small
is our soon coming Lord and King.
Worthy is He to be adored by all;
our lives to Him daily we bring.

Born in the crude stables of Bethlehem,
no grand palace for Him in this life.
No temporal rule for Him among men
but His reign brings an end to all strife.

He came as the prophecies so proclaimed,
this One descended of King David’s line.
He is the Name above every name
and shall be throughout and beyond all time.

So precious was that One tiny Babe
as He lay in a manger of straw.
His blessed birth was a life that He gave,
obedient to His Father, fulfilling Heavenly Law.

Adored by three Wise Men who traveled afar,
worshiped by simple shepherds was He,
As guidance was drawn from a bright, shining star
On a memorable and holy Christmas Eve.

While blessings were fashioned from His tiny hand
preparing all hearts to receive,
Salvation extended throughout the land,
to all, who, in Him would believe.

A Child in a manger invited each one
to a celebration of unending joy and peace.
A cherished gift offered from Father to Son,
humanity’s treasure, never to cease.

My Little Red Corvette

Sugar drops and colored gumballs,
An open skyline, an open convertible, and a white ragtop!
Black Perrelis, red caps, and spoked mag-frames,
Pacific Coast Highway, and her stairway to heaven!

A thousand charged horses on pure octane!
My deliverance, black rock cod, and pink champagne!
Her deliverance, Pacific Coast Highway, a stairway to heaven, and romance!
A storybook weekend, and my little red Corvette!

A white and pink plumeria flower, above the ear, and a few warm tears!
Matchbox, Hot Wheels, tracks and tracks, and Dad's Road and Track!
Boys and their silly toys, lost quarters, lost dimes, lost rhymes, and lost innocence!
Those magnificent men in their flying machines!

Liquid sunshine, Turtle Wax, Palmolive, and the softest hands!
Kid's glove leather, hands on leather, and zero to sixty in three or more!
Golden Gate Bridge lit at midnight, and Los Angeles rocking to soft jazz!
My little red Corvette, and my Mother's good sense!

An arching rainbow, a hidden valley, a tree house on Kauai!
From Grand Canyon, to Waimea Canyon, to tea with Diane Canyon!
Charley's Angels, Mae West, Some Like It Hot, from Twiggy to Marilyn Monroe!
Hey Joe DiMaggio, hey Mickey Mantle, hey Smoking Joe!

Pacific Coast Highway on any Sunday afternoon, and my choice of fresh fish!
From pink champagne, to Zinfindel, On Her Majesty's Secret Service!
Sean Connery at midnight, Mr. James Bond and a Russian scientist in love!
My little red Corvette, Hans Christian Anderson, and A Christmas Carol!

                            ‘Can you hear?

Sweet doughnut of whole wheat with hole at center,
                                  I love much.
                           I see! Icy dark chocolate!
We must eat. It is delicious.
From same glass, using two straws to drink straw- berry juice.
‘ll relish cream of love with butter scotch ice cream.
