Flushing Poems

Don Juan

She believed in love at first sight
was deluded and double-crossed
one more time put her heart on the line
everything she once had now is lost
never knew no one who'd dissemble and lie
stab her in the back as he looked her in the eye
made the mistake of giving him her trust
now she's all beat up broke down battered and bust
she who had the faith love conquers all
was duped deceived taken for a ride
if she knew then all she knows now
there'd be no heartbreak she'd be dry-eyed
what a charmer come to no harmer
he enticed her then sliced and diced her
he's a two-timing four-flushing freak
if anyone ever was the perfect portrayal of one
living on a diet of deception and betrayal
he's a true Casanova a real Don Juan

Seems a programmer wrote him some code
and then told it, Produce me an ode!
His efforts, mispent
for to his lament,
all its praises were to his commode!

Premium MemberFlushing On a Submarine

What if you need to go on a submarine
You're isolated for two or three months at sea
Don't tell the fishies
Pretend it's delicious
And you'll grow up to be a hero like me

Appreciate your enthusiasm but I wasn't finished yet
These modern conveniences, on our nerves they can get
Auto-Wiping would be great
Get a head start on a date
You're probably eagerly waiting for the next gadget I'll bet

Premium MemberFlushing, Queens

"Where you be from?" he asked of me.
I said, "I'm from here, Flushing, Queens."
"No, where you be born at is what I means."
he proceeded to then ask of me,
and I replied to he accordingly,
"I was born here in Flushing, Queens."
"Well then where you parents from be?"
he then asked of me,
and I replied, "My parents are also from here in Flushing, Queens."
"Well then where be they born from? At what country?"
he went on to ask of yours truly,
to which I responded most redundantly,
"Both my parents were both born here in Flushing, Queens."
He then said as he looked at me very strangely,
"For somebody who be livin here so long locally,
yo sure does speak very funny."
*
I guess it's the norm today for somebody
who finds anyone who speaks correct grammatically
and who presents their speech articulately,
would come across to somebody
as one who speaks very funny.

Flushing Bay-Go Away- Don'T Come Back Another Day

Say Hey Jason Bay

Where'd it go astray

used to roar like lion and now you just bray

 Let us Pray

Give me a break with your headache and your practice hitting sessions

after 8o mill it,s too late for in season lessons

It,s Summer Time and by now your numbers should be lofty

instead we get another scoop of a second-rate Mr. Softee

your time has been numbered since the day of your hire

time to try your balancing act on the league,s waiver wire

Your not Mays not Steve Henderson not even Lee Mazzili

Even King Kong Kingman,s strikeouts were never this silly

as a Pirate and a Red Sox you were never in such a rut

 Go away wayward stray

the epitome of a New York Mutt

View of Flushing Meadow Park

A huge hemisphere,
a lake two and half miles long,
many shady trees,
cars on Grand Central Parkway...
happy kids on swings and slides.

It's very quite here,
people walking and chatting
in the greenest park,
they're safe even after dark...
it's the perfect haven!

Nighttime seems daytime
when lights shine on all faces
watching a play, or
listening to pop or rock...
what a view from my window!
