Equus Poems

Equus Pallidus

The horse was pale,
paler than the light off the mountain
that reflected back in memories long abandoned

Its mane was long,
longer than the struggle to save what
fortune had vehemently denied me twice

The time was short,
shorter than the flashes of history
that hoofprints trampled in the disappearing snow

The trail was closing,
closing on one last intrepid promise
crying out for

Equus Ferrous

Equus ferrous

There is a storm blowing when blue waves crash ashore
white horses with flying mane gallop up, blocking the road.
The stallions become a river, pushing useless cars aside
 to drown in their futility.
The town below is a lake, rats escaping the sewers runs
up to the third-floor frightening people with their anger
eat

Equus

Beneath the forelocks shady shroud
 and chestnut lashes low,
A gaze to halt the human heart
This creature can bestow.
Apple breathed indifference and
Wistful, fearful grace
Can catapult the senses beyond
This earthly place.
Mankind made him subservient
And service he knows well,
Historically, such willingness has
Grazed the gates of hell.
Natures' magnum opus,
Of evolutions course.
Majestic in his countenance,
Noble, hypnotic Horse.

The Equus

Choice and a destiny,
something on their mind,
the usual resolution
or a prisoner confined.

Snow, rain or thunder,
shut in, cannot be outside,
trapped and frightened,
or man whipping at their side.

Angelic and innocent,
things not easily forgot,
comfortable living
or their soul and mind left to rot.

Fear and mechanics,
broke their beauty for many years,
if dare resist, only hit harder,
confirming their many fears.

A

Premium MemberEquus Poeticus Variabilis

I’m riding your horse, no giddyap allowed,
simply plunge into the deepest unknown.

Your voice sets the pace, it whispers
into the ears of my ride, sometimes they twitch

sometimes they find water, sometimes
the waterfalls absorb all thought. I lean

over neck, sample horse blood like a vampire,
like a computer’s command mode

taking over my brain, allowing my

Spirit of Equus

Equus -
From birth I felt your
vigorous presence-
In this body, it is a tingle of joy,
Upon which I fully enjoy-

Spirit horse
You have taught me the true voice of the wild
You have showed me the coup of burden
You have let me know it is all a choice-
In your company I rejoice
In your strength- Secure in your power.

The Four Brothers of Equus

Gallops in the shadows,
feared by mortals:
bearing on their collars
the stewards of blitz.
Like thunder from beneath,
their presence, sensed:
beware, I daresay
before facing the eve.

The White Brother comes
with the archer, crowned:
the arrows have dogma,
unfortunately, malign.
Claiming the head
although contrived,
this rider leads
by construing minds.

Still fresh, the stains
on the Red One’s skin;
as his rider murders
random martyrs.
A lake of blood
has now consumed-
the
