He slumbers,
resting on grass soft as down,
in eternal sleep’s soft bondage.
As Sun pulls up his weary horses,
gold-flecked manes toss
shimmering dew drops to cling to rose flesh
a coat of silver as the day rests.
Underneath Night’s shroud, he now lies,
a vision unseen but for one
who sits on moon’s cradle,
to sigh
and warm in Night’s chill splendour.
She gazes upon the downed bed,
for here her eyes will forever rest
aching and adoring
upon fair Endymion’s eternal face.

~Endymion~
(Decima)
Endymion some poets say
Was a King some say a hunter
But most believe a shepherd fair
And a youth of great beauty too
Then she the moon Selene saw him
Loved him and coming down kissed him
Slept beside him, slept at her whim
He never woke, lies always so
By mountainside as it death do
She lulls to sleep as she kiss him.

On summer hills I watched you
I know you watched me too
Every night you waited for me
Every night I came to you
From shallow oceans I have risen
On silver chariots traveled high
Crossed everlasting spaces
which filled your empty sky
Soothing manna showered your lips
from the radiance of my light
Crazy love I poured in your heart
on each lone and serene night
Humble shepherd boy Endymion
You haven't chosen death,nor life
In eternal sleep you've slumbered
and made of me your wife
You must have been a poet
with a will to live our dream
with a want to preserve passion
for the last abiding crescent
of the evanescent moon Selene.
Inspired by the Greek myth of Selene, goddess of the moon and Endymion
and by beautiful poetry.

The Sleep of Endymion
Endymion, a simple title I must impose upon
He, son of Zeus, fell in love with Huntress Diana
Goddess of the Moon, nightly she swooned
about him and bathed him in her light,
She went to Zeus, asking for his immortality- her plight
And thus Zeus granted her wish- for Diana to
adore Endymion every eve, he will be in eternal sleep.
His beauty, this simple shepherd, mythic
Diana's love- nightly shone from Olympus.
The Sleep of Endymion immortalized by a painter
Sits in the Louvre, for all to view
Anne Louis Girodet de Roussy-Trioson
Executed perfection in 1791-
The Maiden Moon and her lover
Forever as one.

I knew Endymion
A warrior
A hunter
The face of Kane.
His eyes were like diamonds
Glistening
Upon his battlefield
Proud and raged.
He was blessed by Fortune
Grand
Rewarded
A leader of men.
I knew Endymion
Way back then.
A man of steel
Courageous
Undefeated
A hero in many eyes.
He was a mentor
A visionary
Statuesque
Master of Earth itself.
Wisdom had crowned him
Royal
A sovereign
A teacher of men.
I knew Endymion
Way back then.
