He cannot soar as eagles do
Singing is not for him tis true
So this tale is told in black and white
in places where cold winds blow
So bundle up and take this flight
On a journey to the floe
It's summertime but freezing still
And his mate passes him her new laid egg
And then she's off to feed on fish and krill
As he balances the egg on his feet with skill
He must incubate the egg till hatched
As he awaits her return
She will come back and feed baby bird with her catch
And he will go to sea for which he yearns
He will dive beneath the churning waves
And glide beneath the ocean blue
Catching fish for which he craves
He will do an underwater ballet too
He calls Antarctica home
And is the only creature to winter there
It's much too cold for others to roam
He is attired well, a 'tuxedo' he wears

black and white landscape
a colony of penguins ~
standing and waddling
in the oceans depth
lives a black and white giant~
orca killer whale
seal on an ice flow
oblivious to danger ~
head butting whale strikes
egg laid by female
emperor penguin stands guard~
female goes hunting
not in Africa
elephant and leopard seals~
sea is their jungle
hourglass dolphins
smaller than a bottlenose~
keen bow wave riders
home is in the air
the wandering albatross~
a ten foot wingspan
in the frozen south
a species of royal bird~
the emperor penguin
the antarctic terns
fly over a silver dish~
krill is on the menu
thick and warm white coat
a camouflaged artic fox~
unseen in the snow
top of the food chain
carnivorous white giant~
fearsome polar bear

If wishes were horses than beggars might ride,
Then men would not intend to be like lions, vanquishing another's pride,
If wishes were horses than beggars might ride,
Then men, would be the Emperor penguin, braving the winter's cold, to stand by his hatchlings side,
If wishes were horses than beggars might ride,
Then sin, would vanish in the wind, crushed by eagles talons as they fly,
If wishes were horses than beggars might ride,
Then men would be heaven sent and the violence would subside.

Flight (less)
Flight is a gift from God - The Bald Eagle spreads her wings
The Emperor Penguin is a novel sight,
With an crown of gold around the scruff,
Heavily insulated and robbed of flight,
Icy swims, bitter cold, these conditions are rough,
The emperor survives, despite.
New Zea land's pet bird,
Don’t eat this kind of Kiwi,
They can’t fly and are not safe,
National Symbol,
This little guy likes the night,
Smells dinner from far away.
The Emu looks like its cousin,
The Ostrich and his kin are grounded.
