From the inside of music I looked out far
The sky was cloudy, preparing for rain
Sir Rattle on the Mezzo played Sir Elgar
The air fumed sour like the dead champagne
I went for the memories, to see your face
In times when the sky was bright blue
But wherever I turned to, was just empty space
And the most annoying, not a sign of you
But why did you worry about me over time
So desperately strong - I much preferred
To come in the evening, to share some wine
Animated by your smile and kind word
Wouldn't you come, to forget me again?
Send me a note, if you thought to remember
Your teddy, who waits in the sounds of rain
Through the music they care to render.

I pricked my ears to follow the sound,
As did my son and our puppy hound,
delight of violin in full tune,
Played to setting sun and rising moon!
Winter evening was well underway,
Christmas carol singers in full sway,
Violin was playing the church psalms,
And Beethoven,Elgar, Berg and Brahms.
Mystery player hidden from view,
Three ardent followers, wish he knew,
Our quest to trace the source was in vain,
The flow of music was unrestrained!
A bright full moon but it was still dark,
couple in romance strolling the park,
sound of violin has come to stop,
If not for ducks one can hear pin drop.
In corner of park a wooden bench,
the maestro was here, was my hunch,
Some tell tale signs of food and foot prints,
Other than these there were no more hints!
We returned next week for an encore,
A Christmas cake with thank you decor,
There was no music but silence all the way.
Near the bench, a note:-
“ RIP, In heaven you shall play!”

When life seems tough and full of care
And things go wrong at every turn,
Reach out, there’s music in the air.
As Elgar said, it’s everywhere,
This melody for which I yearn
When life seems tough and full of care.
Be silent, still, and yet aware
Of something you can just discern –
Reach out, there’s music in the air.
This music is a thing most rare;
To sooth your soul it will return
When life seems tough and full of care.
To feel its pulse my fervent prayer,
Its mode and melody to learn –
Reach out, there’s music in the air.
Then take some music – all can share,
It’s yours by right so do not spurn.
When life seems tough and full of care,
Reach out. There’s music in the air.
