Palazzo Strozzi near the Duomo is empty now,
The tourists having sought more grand amusements;
Perpetual restlessness the most common souvenir
They’ll be bringing home from vacation.
Giotto’s Campanile seemed manly from the outside,
Its shoulders squared against the distant mountains,
But its winding stairs betrayed an inner sadness,
That worried my intent to see the skyline.
The streets of Florence fairly simmer in the sunset.
I crossed the Ponte Vecchio to get across the Arno.
Three happy Italians splashing barefoot in the fountain
Remind me I’m a long, long way from home.

AND PASSING INTO HOLY SOULSFROM AGE TO AGE
SHE PRODUCES FRIENDS OF GOD
PROPHETS
WISDOM 7:27
IF YOU GO TO MILAN in northern Italy
You probably head first to the Duomo
The massive Gothic Cathedral in the center
After you tour it and walk amid the spires on its roof
You might sit on the piazza steps eating gelato with scores of others
Then you might descend to the subway, ready for another adventure
As you hurry through the hallway to catch a train
You’ll pass a locked door with a small window
If you look
You’ll see mounds of dirt and stones
But if you return to the church
You can visit that underground space by going down some steps in the back
Amid the excavations is an octagonal-darkness
Alone
Contemplate the font where St. Ambrose washed
St. Augustine in the living waters of baptism
Then you can return to the bustling
Brightness, centuries later
But still held in the e3mbrace of the same Wisdom they sought
Found
Lord, open my soul to your wisdom and truth

I long to live by the sea...
A house among the shoreline, quiet and at peace
The sight of the ocean through the window from my bed
Brisk winds and a vivid sunset, a days worth to never forget...
And
I desire to see the City of Rome...
The inspiration that brought my novel to a close
The Duomo and the town they call Florence, Italy
There is no other place in the world I'd rather be...
Oh yeah,
A trip to see Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park...
Boston, I'm told has many historical landmarks
You recieve a map that shows where they stand
A brick trail to follow, the day couldn't be better planned...
Maybe,
To one day have a star named after me...
Where I can point to the sky and say, "That ones named Michelle, that one there, do you see?"
A thing so simple but something that will forever exist
Another starry night where I will be remembered, never missed...
But then,
A single wish that may push those things to second best...
A marriage to a wonderful man..Who? Go ahead, take a guess
The cherished moment that leads to a lovely life
Just to remain so happy and be a faithful wife...
