The sky is news-worthy
the day brightly published,
up-town where the trees live
sunshine plays in the streets.
Later, in the wild-walking cities
there will be donuts;
racers will twirl while they hurl
rubber into smoking halo's,
but here in suburbia
only recycled and ritual sins
are dumped decorously
into well-kept trash bins.
The air is clear in God's manicured acres
where all the long dead Shaker's
had the decorum and foresight
to propagate no more of their brightness,
nor publish simple gifts to the unheeding.
A community grills hotdogs and burgers
through a late summer day,
dullsville simmers away
long into the evening crawlies,
where the glaring stars retell
bygone bedtime stories.

Saudade, assiduously dumping buckets of gelid-infused water overtop my vehemently flickering flame.
Arrogantly reigning my banished feelings of joie de vi-vre.
Undermining my drumming heart, snapping both ligneous sticks into splinters.
Duping our garish star, precipitating a myriad of inexorably raucous winters.
Absentmindedly amending my evocative, gaudy-slathered soul.
Dowsing my dullsville, dreary inside with black and white.
Etching my gunmetal grave with my name and date, sizzling my emotions with crimson cracked coals.

Many and many years ago back when
Many were poor and poverty was real
Lay offs happened_momma got fired then
We lived rural with pork, dry peas for a meal
Daddy worked, my brother worked a job too
So there was some money to pay those bills
Extras were not thought of_real needs accrue
Then my aunt came with clothes_now not dullsville
They pulled out this purple skirt with those buttons
Purple buttons how I loved those jewels
Quickly at once they said too mature, hon
Snip went those buttons_no bombshell
Pressed the skirt_wrinkles gone poverty stayed
Today those purple buttons mood arrayed
