Draw The Line At Poems | Examples

Drawing the Line

I had a poignant dream last night,
Dreamt that top sales people were taking Flight,
No longer able to look in a mirror without getting a fright.

A line in the sand they were not prepared to cross,
Despite the financial loss.

Even for them some things to sell they would not dare,
Especially if the goods were never there,
Or meant to disappear into thin air.

Most born into a world that was real,
Their conscience making them draw the line at this kind of deal.

Not for them, selling of goods and services,
That exist only in imaginary worlds,
To people who exist in financial voids.

I wish they could stay,
And help me sell this dream.

Cinder...f...rella

Yes...that's me...
Cinder...f...rella,
Cannot believe it,
Nearly twelve o clock

And you know what happens then,
Yes...you got it!
Back into my rags...

Magic's wearing off,
And my beauty fades,

Don't mind losing the cloths,
Don't even mind losing the shoe,
But draw the line at the make up,

Don't want anyone to see me,
So I run...
As fast as I can,

Leaving... Prince charm...behind,
With my slipper,

Having said that,
He could have been...
Short, fat and ugly
For all I know!
So he can keep the dam thing,

All my life waisted...
One long fairy tale after another,
As far as...balls go,
Now look at me
Just like my ugly sisters,

Thought...!!!!!
Put some sparkle back,
But it never worked out,

So back to my day job,
Scrubbing floors,
Hoping...
One day my Prince will come,
And love me for who I am.
Without make up.

Trying to hold onto a little sparkle,
But...only in humour...
These days.

And so...she lived
Happily ever after.

A Wet Weekend

Water, water everywhere
running down the walls
and dripping through the ceiling
like the darned Niagara Falls.
The carpet is all sodden
but really, if you please,
I draw the line at paddling
unless it’s in the seas.

I never liked the wallpaper,
though here comes the ‘BUT’,
until I have some money
I had hoped it might stay put
for just a little longer,
and then there is the smell
of damp that’s getting stronger,
like an ancient, musty well.

And what about my ironing,
I left it in a pile
at the bottom of the stairs
for just a little while,
but now it’s mixed with plaster
and shades of rust and grey.
I guess that ought to teach me
to do it right away.

How plans can all be washed away
along with precious things
and how we never can predict
just what the next day brings
It’s not what I imagined
when at the forecast’s end
the weatherman so calmly said
‘expect a wet weekend’

A weekend of clearing up after my header tank overflowed :(
