Dock Worker Poems | Examples

The Refused Is the Confused

Heart with Joy suffused,
Later Help refused!
So, No Hopes infused,
It’d remain confused…

A Factory Worker,
For twelve years Dock Worker;
One could not be great,
If one would just wait.
“Who does jams his gate
To walk with poor gait:
Who does ends up ‘Poor,’
About this ‘For Sure’

Denied sponsorship
He won’t sail his ship:
The Refused, Confused!
Confused, The Ill-Used.

Ningbo Stranger

A dock worker in Ningbo diagnosed with Covid
So, the port is now shut down.
Continents away, we've never met
But at him, in annoyance, I frown.

Suddenly, this stranger has entered my life
We're in an odd sort of relationship
He is causing a great inconvenience
Now our desired commodities cannot ship.

But his specter lingers in my mind
I'm wondering how he is faring
He probably has a wife and kids
My emotions shift to caring.

This plague has touched the entire world
We share a virus with one another
Maybe it's here to urge us to touch
Each other as sister and brother-in-law.

Somewhere Far Away

Somewhere far away
    someone is reading what
you've published
    Everyone of you out there
has been exposed
Lights continue to shine on
    in the distance
Both in the city
    and in your mind
Somewhere far away
    someone is reading
what you've published
    That person might be a
lawyer, doctor ,dock worker, homeless person
   or an aesthete
   Just keep reminding yourself
   everyday that you have talent
Ignore the critics
    for they are not creators
of original work
As I sit here in the asphalt homeland
I feel the night wrap itself around me
   like a crystalline blanket
Verse is an excellent friend
   (at times)
