Some cabinets are
filled with finest dinnerware,
Some contain jokers.

From her thick, littered journal
Notes of passion burn with love
Against clangs of dinnerware---
Till hours roam into near morn
Her spouse digging through work’s pile.
Upstairs, she jots tender lines
Dreaming of intimate nights .

I made a small declutter vow
To get myself unstuck
That every day I’ll toss one thing
And so far, I’m in luck.
My travel guides from years ago
To places I have been
Were easy things for me to trash,
A good place to begin.
Some macramé for hanging plants,
A box of potpourri
And dinnerware with chips or cracks
Were thrown away by me.
Of course, I’m near the very tip
(The iceberg’s down below),
But every day I’ll chip away
And find one thing to throw.
For sentimental fools like me
This takes a lot of thought.
Too bad the empty space will fill
With new stuff I have bought!

I wish I could sit ‘round the corner,
And take in all of the clamor;
I’d hear laughter and conversations,
I would hear what really matters!
I would hear dear familiar voices,
Distinctive laughs known know right away.
Dinnerware clanging with silverware,
With the smells of Thanksgiving Day!!!
I would thank my God for family,
Both at home and those far away.
If I could just sit ‘round the corner,
That would be a spectacular day.
What you have, when gathered together,
Is a gift every heart longs to share.
The gift of just loving each other,
And the prize of each person that’s there.
Though I’m not sitting there ‘round the corner,
My heart is most certainly there.
My love, adoration and thankfulness,
Is in spirit, at everyone’s chair.
I love you dear family, and send my best wishes:
For holiday health, wealth and mirth.
Tis Thanksgiving Day! Thank God for this day
It’s the best seat to have on the earth.
