Stress whirls, while the mind spins
Stuck in a trap, with no way to win
Only to lose things without a choice
Screaming inside, to have a voice
What our country is doing, regarding health
All for their gain, ongoing wealth
It is beyond comprehension, as it unfolds
Patients bounced around as if they are sold
Powerless one is to fix what led to the trap
There is no direction, eventually no map
Stripping hurting people of their livelihood
This is NOT American, when understood
Behind the scenes, stealing from those in need
Until there is no way at all for some to be freed
Assistance is a farce for those on disability needing care
Medicaid requiring high deductibles, no money to spare
Yet given free to those breaking law or without problem
They are helped with no costs, no deductibles for them
Because they chose on their own to have zero income
They receive the so-called assistance ‘sum’
It is twisted, evil and it is all happening here
While people are dying and no-one even cares

I have seen enough and have to speak out
These health insurance companies making money off people
Is so disturbing and beyond words.
People with less money cannot keep up with these premiums,
Deductibles and co-pays.
A friend of mine couldn’t even get stitches recently
Due to a high deductible due.
These companies have no conscience.
People are dying over these issues and losing their homes
I once saw a man in tears because of losing his home
Unable to keep up with the health costs for his wife’s health issues.
And look what is happening to our Veterans!
It goes on and on and costs keep going up and up.
I have started to take action, speaking out.
--- I hope more people do too ---

I cheated on my wife once
while playing Monopoly;
I paid enough to buy two houses
but then I put up three.
I felt so bad about what I did
I confessed at the end of the day;
and swore I would never do it again
because I hated feeling that way.
Once I was in a golf tournament
and forgot to count a penalty stroke
after I moved my ball a little bit
to get out from behind an oak.
When we tallied the score at the end of the round
I disqualified myself;
it wouldn’t be right having the winner’s cup
displayed upon my shelf.
When doing my taxes at the end of the year
I didn’t have all my receipts;
so I couldn’t take all my deductibles
without feeling like a cheat.
I guess some people can and some people can’t -
I am the latter of those two.
Cheating tears me all up inside;
what does it do to you?
Written for the Cheating Contest - but posted too late - darn!
