Black Rose was her name,
a pirate ship of great fame,
she sailed the Cretan seas,
of turquoise blue, so un-tame,
crashing through the high waves,
sea air in our hair,
salt and rum on our tongue
singing songs old & young,
hell, it was great fun!
our backs heated by the sun
on the ropey rigging we hung,
with sword and pistol gun,
deep sea swim,
till the sunset dims,
a pirates life for us, it's our hymn!

We met through an acquaintance
a Cretan from the age of men
behaving badly
Through poetry and books, it began
a struggle of wills and spirits
tamed but never broken
Kindred lives of dishearted souls
who found peace through times of
silence our thoughts stirred by words
that sang in a language each other’s
soul knew and understood
Our peace found in each others arm
as we listened to a heart that sang
a song no one else could hear

The Cretan Clown from Crawford came
chosen for greatness, age-old name.
Skull and bones adorned his frame
chosen for greatness, age-old name.
Borders did they eliminate
thus they sealed our Country's Fate.
It all began long ago
unsuspected, they that know.
In they flowed from Southern points
Western, Eastern, Northern too.
Thieves in the night they came in fear -
large Sieves in our Borders
too late, they're here.
