Midnight Interlude

M elancholy circles its shadows in the night
I mmortal demons summoned from within
D istorted fears ring loudest incantations
N ebulous the clouds of failure and defeat
I ntense and nefarious the forces gather with intent
G arnish every remaining semblance of dignity
H andwriting on the wall predict our fate is sealed
T angerine skies wash over our last vestige of hope

I conic setting for the rising of the phoenix
N avigating seas of turbulence when all is at its worst
T ime and time again we’re challenged to prepare for combat
E motions on high alert as we dare rise to the challenge
R eveal the inner strength we never thought we had
L ingering from some old forgotten conquest
U nfurled wrath of the den mother protecting her cub
D efying all odds live to fight another day
E lusive victory against dark forces in the night
