Families have their own quirky sayings
That tend to continue throughout generations
Said for many emotions
Or just in general conversation
“What a load of Codswallop”
“Or what a load of Cods”
A saying in my family
“Codswallop” not so odd!
It means what a load of rubbish
Though many of you may already know
I’m writing a load of Cods right now
So time for me to go …..

Moments create togetherness
Codswallop
Discombobulated brouhaha
Only in movies or
By a flibbtigibbet
Maybe
By a dingleberry during a kerfuffle

The widow of Codswallop House
Was observed not wearing a blouse
It seems our vicar
Succumbed to liquor
And pretended to be her spouse

I cannot put into words
how diabolical this task is – I simply can't hack it!
This morning I burst out crying
as I was wracking my brains trying to focus
and think of a form for this particular sponsor
now I’m going out of my mind with worry
It’s so horrific -
trying to work with a sprinkling of consonants
and using strict phonics
with an aim of making a witty work for folk to follow.
So I’m truly sorry
if you think that this long composition
is just a load of old codswallop!

That story's full of codswallop as they say
Do you mean “crap”, then say crap, don't sashay
Words should transfer
A thought on a spur
Simpler the better doesn't call for an essay

Words flow like a babbling brook,
To my home, muse lets me look.
A farmstead by the rush.
Whisper in my ear, ancestor cheer, comedic discuss.
A choice for some, prince or slum.
Forward thinking, and digital dumb.
Can we walk? Soulful spirit and painless run?
Journey end, expedition begun.
One of three, three of one,
To flight, to absorb the here and gone.
Memory and conscience,
Hammer or tongue.
Soulful challenge, to fit or belong,
Codswallop with angelic song.
Pain soup all the way, fire and flame,
Your shine. . . Our shame.

Oh my darling I met you on here
I will love you forever
never looking at another
you are my whole wide world.
Bah! what a load of cods wallop
dream on enjoy your fantasy
for if there's one sure thing
it will all end in tears.
Love takes time to grow
if it is to last.
It needs nurturing
and time spent together.
What one gets on line
is just a flash in the pan
sweet talking words and
maybe cam sex, are no go.
Love thrives on challenges
thrown up by everyday life.
You have to experience both
the good and definitely the bad.
Anything else is an illusion
although seeming sweet now
I have seen these internet affairs
that explode in wild passion.
Yet where are they six months later?
gone like a puff of wind
the canvas torn apart
the illusion shattered.
Bah! its a load of cods wallop
a fantasy existing only in your mind
sweet at the time to be sure
but when it ends someone is in tears.
While their so called love
moves on to someone new
its all just a game
and some play it so well.
