Grisha and Judy have gone to sleep
Without us tomorrows will walk the same step
The cliffs of Dover won’t get more steep
We won’t weep more tears than we have wept
The Chiltern hills won’t become more green
The sky over the house won’t depict more blue
Your roses won’t bloom more red than I’ve seen
And forget-me-nots I’ll forget, so will you
Judy and Grisha is just one more story
This world has in plenty for a garden bin
And every morning comes a garbage lorry
To help this world with another spin
What will become of us, is not ours
In the sleeping time the earth feels like new
Judy and Grisha grow in time of flowers
In the early spring, like they used to do.

Hear, hear, I’m heaven-sent!
Open up your heart, and see
Not the message that was meant
But a parcel that is me
Put away the wrapping paper
Sit me down on the floor
I’m a drinker, you’re a vaper
And we always want some more
Till our heads will overload
Eyes get dim, the hour’s late
Through the air we come afloat
Cause in sleep we levitate
Flying by the Chiltern hills
Over the enchanted moon
Over the angelic mills
We will not return too soon
To your land of hopeless glory
To the garden in the sun
In the night we have no worry
I’m a parcel you have won.

Alongside a Chiltern chalkstream
I lay me down to dream
of
country paths stiles & steep slopes
those days
long ago
filled with hope
I dreamed of days
of summer sun
when my life had just begun
climbing trees &cricket on the green
& the first time
I made the school team
Football with coats & bat& ball
bonfire night &fireworks
in the Fall
carol singing through silent streets
paper chains &
Christmas treats.

those days,long ago,filled with hope;
I dreamed of days of summer sun
when my life had just begun,
climbing trees,cricket on the green,
the first time I made the school team;
Football with coats and tennis ball,
bonfire night fireworks in the Fall,
carol singing through silent streets,
paper chains and Christmas treats.
Crystal clear,vision's backward gaze
brought forth from nostalgia's haze.

You'll find me in -
Chiltern Firehouse,
a hotel in London, baby.
If you walk down Chiltern Street
I'll be waving from a window.
Look for me in London town.
You'll find me in -
Chiltern Firehouse,
a hotel in London, maybe...
if I decide to go there.
I'll be crying by a window...
Look for me in London town.
You'll find me crying,
yes, crying, baby,
for you walked out on
me and baby Johnny.
He's grown up now,
but don't look for him in London town.

Beechwoods,downland and common heath,
Chalky soil inches beneath;
Trees,jostling tall,
Leaf,yellow-brown in Autumn,fall;
Fallow deer feed at dawn and dusk,
Treading flat the beechnut husk;
Open heath,sandy soiled,
Whence commoners once toiled;
Roedeer,muntjac proliferate
As Nature reverts and liberates;
Winding brooks and narrow streams,
In mingled,muddled childhood dreams.
