Chalk Line Poems | Examples

Bird Black

Blackbirds singing in jackboots

Women freshening and powdering
in the Men's room

A child is born without square eye's
and cell phone permanently attached
to it's inner ear

Traversing footsteps under a star
with both maternal loving married
parents expectantly awaiting a
cradle beside

Waning Luna quarter moon tide
lapping in and out the countryside

Clotting blood splattered indiscriminately
outside the chalk line box

A hairdresser shearing blonde locks
off for a charitable cause or donation
appeal

A doctor delivering a terminal diagnosis

Whilst in the other room a child is born
and miraculous life saving medical
procedure is being performed

A Chalk Line Mother

She draws the outline of her past
one of society’s outcasts
she chalks the mother sadly missed
the tears she tries to resist
a chalk line mother is all she knows
a life full of highs but mostly lows
no age to be left alone
buts it’s all she as ever known
she lies within the outlines shape
looking for an escape
rolled up tight like a ball
covered with her mother’s, imaginary shawl
the peace of sleep she gravely seeks
her mind released to inwardly weep
mother's should not leave this earth
before their off spring, who they gave birth

NB this was inspired by a picture on facebook a small child in an indian orphanage had drawn a chalk outline of her mother on the floor and rolled up and gone sleep inside the lines and someone had took a picture.

Premium MemberTea Service Sarcasm

tea service sarcasm
crumbless tongue
maids and servants frown
with all-nighter tongue twisters

the blister of three a.m.

the poor professor stumped
marbles roll in head, in mouth
mirrors and flames with burning words

and swords from poor, tired eyes
see a chalk line drawn ‘round the antagonist

the king has no say
disappears out of sight

Doolittle has no fight left
...she falls

                   in love

Birthday Sonnet

Birthday Sonnet

My love's not passive, shy and free of strife
Nor are her eyes soft deep and limpid pools
No, in those orbs there burns the fire of life
Of value more than any precious jewels
No perfect features hers as of a dream
Nor model's swaying steps along chalk line
With youthful body and a fresh faced mien
She walks with purpose and arrives on time
Soft words are not her currency of choice
No Mary she to wash my feet with tears
Sharp wit and humour exercise her voice
And fed my soul and body throughout the years
Though thorny words may cause my ears to smart
Above it all she'll be here in my heart

Rounding Third

Rounding third I'm heading home
Pants mighty dirty, cleats are worn
Knees swollen, bones do ache
Just one more game before I break

Coach waves me in I trip and fall
Scramble back , I'm safe for now
Dust in my mouth, nose, and shoes
The sun is setting , no time to lose

Tiptoe that chalk line with one foot fair
Heading home, into the light I stare
The ball is hit, the fans do cheer
I cross the plate as light as air

The game is over, I rest in peace
This story as told in a press release

EVERYTHING in its rightful PLACE. Everyone knew he REIGNED SUPREME.
NO CONTENDER. this BIG SPENDER? THEY OBEYED his rules. He wore his SNAKE
SKIN. Ankle high BLACK BOOTS. ALRIGHT NOW. EVERY WORD HAD STYLE.
HIS SWAGGER MADE FROM SUEDE.

NO PRETENDER. THAT WASN'T his GAME. HE PLAYED IT real, real COOL. THAT'S
THE TYPE OF CAT HE WAS, AND EVERYBODY KNEW WHEN THIS BAD DUDE WAS
IN TOWN. THEY'D walk a CHALK LINE JUST FOR THAT SHORT TIME. NOBODY
KNEW HIS NAME EVERY BODY PLAYED HIS GAME.

THIS MYSTERY MACK DADDY STILLED THE NIGHT. NO ONE else seemed to harness
Those SKILLS, not even til present DAY. Once THERE THEN GONE. THE BADDEST
MAN ON THIS SIDE OF TIME.
