a shooting star

Tell you this again,
When you see
A shooting star,
Someone loves you,

Someone tells you
“Eat chocolates”
Offer jewelry,
Think of me, then,

Pineapple flavors,
Mango flavors,
On a distant island
There is happiness,

Tell you this again
When you see
A shooting star,
There’s someone who loves you.

Dites-vous ceci,
Quand vous voyez
Une étoile filante,
Quelqu’un vous aime,

Quelqu’un vous dit
Mangez des chocolats
Offrez des bijoux,
Pensez à moi, alors,

Parfum d’ananas,
Parfum de mangue,
Sur une ile lointaine
Il y a du bonheur,

Redites-vous ceci
Quand vous voyez
Une étoile filante,
Quelqu’un vous aime.

This Is Not a Pipe

This is not a pipe
I can see that
No bite, or burn, marks
It’s just a piece of art
Nothing you can get a grip on

A pipe is made for smoking
I keep mine stored away, haven’t used them for a long time
I remember a pipe, stuffed with gunpowder from a children’s playgun
Suprised me that pipe - didn’t see the little rascals for quite some time
What is a pipe worth, if it isn’t a pipe?

A memory is like a picture of a pipe
It doesn’t exist
I can open the drawer
Pick up the pipe
Ceci n’est pas une pipe

Consequences

La discrimination raciale – Translation of Oodgeroo Noonuccal’s “Colour Bar” by T. Wignesan

Atonement

Youngest of all she went unnoticed.
So beautifully cultured but shy a motive.

  So talented, so loved;
And above her the beaut world evolved.

To Cecilia and Robbie 'twas their spring.
But with Robbie little Tallis hoped a ring.

Then came the industrious Marshall so virile.
So sharp in charisma but in deeds so vile.

little Tallis knew him a hoax.
But out of this notion her Schizophrenic mind coax.

Yet love unfold for Ceci and Robbie 'twas vanquished
And in perishing indeed reputation tarnished.

Aye was this right of little Tallis?
Nope cos she got it all amiss.

With this couple she never again got a moment
So she wrote her fiction in atonement.

Dedicated to the movie Atonement ( by Joe Wright).

Ce N'Est Pas Une Sortie:

sorry to say but you know the way

que les choses viennent voler à vous

like glass shattering upon hitting a tree

slamming into a tree & just barely

vous traîner en sortir vivant.

what you do know is this: that this

that you have no exit except the last

all the attempts at escape which this

you just so far before you have to

beginning.

On Turning Sixteen

On Turning Sixteen

At sixteen seconds you cried
And so did I

At sixteen minutes
I held you and you held me
by the heart

At sixteen hours
We were heading home
and our family now
numbered four

At sixteen days
Our family was conflicted
Our little man now had a
problem; daddy had another
child in his life …

At sixteen weeks things
Were getting crazy
Long nights, loud nights
Son and daughter now
Starting to find companionship
Comforting.

At sixteen months
little sister stare,
her hero brother.
Steps becoming strong and sure
Beautiful golden-brown hair
The skin, the smile on waking,
Umber eyes

At sixteen years
Driver’s license
Self-assurance, doubt
Edge of womanhood
Brother and sister BFF
Fleeting childhood
Undying love
Happy Birthday

To Ceci from Dad on her 16th birthday (7/01). Much Love.
