Rolex
If it’s a creation,
then science and spirit should explain each other.
Not argue. Not compete.
They should echo.
Like a wave entering water—
and the water nods.
I was born into a field,
not a house.
The floor, the couch, the corners—
they didn’t creak.
They hummed.
The rooms didn’t scare me.
The electrons did.
The lies—
It came through pattern.
Through footsteps stored in drywall.
Through the breath someone forgot to exhale
Twenty years ago
My body is made of quartz that learned how to flinch.
It keeps time like a Casio—
$10 of stillness more honest than a Rolex.
Because truth doesn’t tick, nor dress up.
It vibrates.
Who said nostalgia is memory?
I know better.
Nostalgia is presence with a shadow
Eden remembered, but not currently lived in.
A waveform that still fits me
like the glow-in-the-dark stars
I stuck to my ceiling
before I knew how the sticker glowed.
Love enters and leaves no residue.
It echoes clean.
It’s a return.
A collapse in the name of peace.
A God crystal humming 32,768 times per second,
while we scroll past ourselves
looking for the next thing to react to

Noelle Cottage straddles ledges of grey,
Extending into waters of Casio Bay,
Along Small Point’s shoreline of Atlantic Ocean,
Observing forest, sky, and ocean devotion.
Feathered fliers: Osprey, Sea Gull, and Eagle,
Their diet all favorites and everything legal,
Overhead wing-singing their various tunes,
Hunt above beaches near sandy, beige dunes.
Noelle Cottage awaits - at the end of Shore Road
Where sea-salty breezes generally flow,
Among acres of Fir, Birch, Maple, and Pine,
Awakening fond memories obscure in time.
Life by the sea is always a challenge.
Happiness there’s a joyous challenge to manage.

Such a sweet tweet from you
Well it's just out of blue
How I cherish you can't guess
For you're my mommee ace
Want to see you in modern get-up
With scarf around thy neck covered up
A Rolex or Casio shining on wrist
It will penetrate even the mist
Treat to see you just play
Basket ball - making hay..!!

My God I thought Christ had just returned...I was in a dead sleep when one of the cats jumped up on this 300 button multi function electric Casio keyboard and caused it to play a church organ demo...trumpets and all...on volume level 14. As I was frantically searching for the on/off button my daughter Violet walked in all sleepy eyed and asked..Daddy, why are you playing the piano in your underwear again?

"THE NEXT STEP"
I've just looked at my
Casio,
the time is now 12:23AM.
yesterday,
at this time,
it said 12:23AM.
the night before that it
said 12:23AM.
the night before that it
said 12:23AM.
tonight I've written about
it.
sometimes you gotta take
the ordinary and
make
**** happen.
I wish I had known this as
a youngster.
love would've had an
entirely
different meaning.

"WOULD YOU EXPECT ANYTHING LESS?"
in these nights of submission when
the Pacific soothes my pain
when my throat and lungs
die
the numbers on my Casio laugh
showing their stubbornness to
keep going
no matter the wrist it rests on.
in these nights of silence when I'm
alone with my thoughts and the
hatred and laughs of many
live
I have the one thing no one can take
from me:
I'm Chicano Eddie
and I'd do it all over again.

"CIGARETTE IN THE SHADOW"
Humpty fell off the wall.
those around him laughed,
cried and became hungry
for his misery.
the wolves will cry sheep
as they dance in the rain
with the worst cold they've
ever had.
the anorexic become obese.
the obese become anorexic.
Casio watches it's resistance
against water.
my waitress wears black
as the homeless become livid.
never give the homeless
cold hollandaise sauce.
admire the piss that
leaves your body as you let
it go.
at one time
you had it all.

"CASIO"
two months ago I bought myself
a watch.
it was a water resistant Casio.
it wasn't expensive, just your
standard price of twenty dollars.
I put it on my wrist and felt a
small surge of pride run through
my body.
I remember my grandfather leaving
to work and the last thing he'd
put on was his Casio.
it was the watch of a hard
working man.
I never did bother to read
the instructions that came
with the watch and I suppose this
is why I thought my watch was
falling apart.
the metal band was loose and
it swirled around my wrist like
a ring toss.
I was positive I'd have to take
it in for repair.
two months later, I realized the
band had a clasp that could
be adjusted and I fixed my watch
before the life of my Casio
ran out of time.

I've Always been attracted
to the melody of the dancing rhyme
along the black and white keys
there is a voice of international language
through the Steinway and Baldwin
through the casio and yamaha
the message comes out of my fingers
from the old and young
its a sound that touches ev'ryone
lets you laugh and cry
lets you discover how to fly.
