Caracas Poems

Shake em, baby

There was a young man from Caracas
Who proved very good with maracas
He played them so loud
Pleasing the crowd
But eventually, he drove us crackers

Premium MemberThank You

Whether you are in Osaka or Tokyo,
the right thing to say is “arrigato”.
If you ever get stuck in Moscow,
“spassiba” will help you out somehow.
When you are in Mumbai or Hyderabad,
you can always say “dhanyavaad”
In Turkey along the Eurasian rim,
getting by is easy with “teshekkur ederim”
In Bonn or Berlin, in order to gain,
you can always do it with “danke schoen”.
If you are in Paris or Montreal,
just saying “merci” is saying it all.
When you are in Madrid or Caracas,
gratefulness is expressed as “muchas gracias”
If you are in either North or South Korea,
you can make friends by saying “komapsumnida”.
If you have a rather steep climb in Brazil,
“obrigado” will get you over the hill.
Wherever you go in the world today,
just remember that “thank you” is the thing to say.

Edible Music

EDIBLE MUSIC

The garlics are on grand piano in the corner,
Playing alone because of their halitosis.
After making each other’s mouth water,
Clever lemons blowing their trumpets by osmosis.

Onions on sad violins making each other cry.
Mushrooms working in the dark but giving it a try.
Near the open window, beans - small but cute :
Those classic wind instruments , the musical fruit.

Latin rumba from Caracas with coconut maracas.
French  grapes    can-can    in chorus;
Smiling bananas can’t-can’t, but just enjoy the scene.
Tangos with an Argentine tangerine.

Mangos mounting melodies on drums in Afrikaans
Peas piping on piccolos for an Italian folk dance
Rushing polka dots in a Russian borsch whirl.
Oyster shell castanets for a Spanish flamenco girl.

Asparagus dessed in ballet shoes always on tips,
And of course as always, Rose shaking her hips.
All rhythmic foot-tapping fruit
Forever looking for a new recruit.
