WHAT WE THINK WE KNOW

What we think we know
From the history book as we grow
About how we become humans
Might just be a grain of sand in a desert

Religion taught of the creation
A good will of a bigger being
Who from dust mold, better carves
The most intelligent thing on Earth.

Early scientists say we evolve
From ape-like creatures, bushy hairs
Transformed from round bones to squares
From growing tails to cloning fails.

But I think we a more
We are more of mud and bones
We are more from matter and energy
We are more from light and darkness.

Premium MemberBreath

The last whispery remains
of a dream fray into forgetfulness.
I get up and go downstairs
to quietly sit in a chair
beside the window and stare
into the outside dark. A few stars
hang suspended
in the silhouette of a tree.
Six o'clock.
The morning seems
to have been waiting for me
to bring breath to its silence
and movement to its still.
It is like a child eager to show off
its tricks - birds bursting out
of bushy hiding places,
a backyard revealed from beneath
a cloak of nightlong dark
and me from my own.

2024 eve

End of year was here,
R.... closed the communication Apps since May this year.
For 6 months, he walked past my front garden 6 days a week,
Worked at the back yard for 6 weeks,
Sat in the special guest room on each visit,
Which was converted from a dining area.
Now many months later,
The Agapanthus in the front garden,
The Hydrangea on the left of my house,
The bushy Apricot tree,
The flowers were blooming,
And the fruits were ready to be consumed.
He missed to enjoy the beautiful blue,
Green, pink and white flowers,
And tasted the delicious home-grown fruits,
Which he used to appreciate and wait.
He gave them all a miss,
After tossing away our friendship.
Truly, I did not care if we could not be friend again.
Just really want to know why
He has decided and treated me the way he did,
Terminating a relationship was nothing, really,
When comparing to the way he hurt me.

Premium MemberWhen a Tree Falls

Struck down, destroyed
  the tree hit the ground
thunder on pavement
as the pavement glows red

Found out
  ferocious is the growl
in the forest, festering
wound without antiseptic

Held back with a palm
on the chest, running
the treadmill
  until

you are released
to put a fist-sized hole
into the chest wall

Her heart is at rest
  yours is beating
outside your breast
knuckle bones blue

buried in the ashes
the cranial crash
healing not quite
achieved, in the works

when a tree falls in the forest
does anyone see what truly happened

Nestled in the bushy beard
prayers, hope, forgiveness
though we never forget

and we want for heaven
where a bluebird resounds
in a tall and sturdy oak

Premium MemberSymbiosis

Somewhere in a rugged sunny terrain
a bushy-maned pony kicks up his heels
amid biting flies in a grueling summer heat.
An elegant cattle egret hitches a ride.
Devouring grassland insects, his daily diet,
the egret helps his buddy in his plight
keeping the flies at bay while loping along
together through brush and grass and sage.

World

Democracy is not a political itch
nor this country of ours to be one-damn?
strange dwelling places will not be such things nor
African bushy lots nor market places nor these streets
across these new world's ere lands?.
  Political war, war, war
O politics what war trick what peace suspicions what
grudges in love what thing whatever so otherwise?.

One Day

Guppies in my garden pond multiplied
Lilies bloomed
Bushy.snow white rose flowered
Berries ripe
Sparrows
Squirrels
Breeze
Every Breeze brings a song
Every song brings a guest
Every guest brings a smile
Every smile spreads light
Light......
One day....

Premium MemberThe Mustard Seed

The smallest of seeds falls and amalgamates with the earth.
Amidst dust to dust, mist, manure, and moisture gain rebirth.
Leaf evolution, stem elongation, and florescence
With sun-lit yellow blooms, it reaches its adolescence.

Like a vulture, it spreads its wings of bold bushy branches.
Towards giving rest to birds of all kinds, it advances.
From a wheatish tone, the colour of seeds slowly turns brown.
Into globular black painite granule finds its renown.

All these were hidden within these as a seed when it fell.
As a seed yielding shrub, it has many tales to tell.
Adding taste to the food and serving as herbs to good health
Is not a mustard seed a gem of herbaceous wealth?

Divine kingdom, though humble in stature, is marvellous.
To seek this, yet, you asked them, shouldn't each one be righteous?

Premium MemberTwo Girls

Here's a tale of two girls.

Blessed with their bushy curls

Lovely Lizzy looks white

Brainy Bizzy seems bright

Go as one ; never part

Each loves her counterpart

Both have fun with coffee

Share and enjoy toffee

They're happy little guys

Twins they're! What a surprise!

Premium MemberWhen I Awake

When I awake

When I awake
The same as you
Our time of life
My desires are few
When you awake
The same as me
Nothing new
Sleep in the eyes
Bright and bushy tailed
Tensions and sugar plums
Side by side
Are we one
Are we two
A lifetime
The same as you

CHILD SOLDIER

A brief smile whispers shadows
A rifle his burden, innocence lost
Bruises on both elbows
Eyes clouded with a thousand sorrows.
A painting of a young soul, no longer a child
But a half-grown man who has seen too much.

His grin reveals brown teeth
A tbacco’s stain playground
Hair bushy, not black but brown
Dreams taking cover in his eyes.
A boy conscripted, his spirit dies
In the painting, a silent cry.

Premium MemberThe Cobra and the Mangoose

Shh…..!
Don’t scare them away!
Let us watch this macabre dance
and enjoy the art in rivalry!

A battle between
two champions.
both in the arena,
armed with nothing
but
teeth and fangs,
stationed immobile
face to face,
eyes emitting sparks of ire.

A cobra
with spectacled hood wide
hissing and shrieking,
spitting fire and fume
and a mongoose
with bushy tail up.

Who would win
this murderous combat?

Yet to see!
Golly… gosh!

Premium MemberWhat in the World Does Freedom Mean

As a little girl, it simply meant, not being in a jail.
Nor being so vicious, like pulling a cat’s bushy taul,

It meant summer vacations, and sharing our toys.
In those days, when it was OK to be a girl or a boy.
People of all colors came here from so many lands.
We celebrated our differences with music and bands

The flag of our country’s union, was for one and all.
We learned, if divided, this great country might fall.
Men and women went to fight in wars across the sea.
Many never came home, they died for you and for me.

I’d love to travel back to those days of sweet innocence.
With no clothes dryers, and roses behind a picket fence!
Fireflies glittered in star-bright, warm, summer’s nights.
Life was so simple then, as we all knew wrong from right.

Memory in Solace

There is a grave with no name
That stands lonelier still.
It has no flowers nor despairing mourners
And the grass grows thick and bushy,
For this grave is left to rot.

Abandoned is this grave—
No one knows if a funeral was ever held.
The vicar says he knows all faces,
Yet this one, he cannot place.
Ostracised even by the other dead,

This grave stands alone.
Who could tell who was laid here to rest?
Not you, nor I,
Though I knew him once.
He was a good man. But, now, he rots.

Among the Angels

When our grindstone comes into blossom,
A hen's curse might kill an eagle.
Maybe when hell freezes over,
The snake that I see will bite.

I am mortal but among the Angels
Left but never forgotten
Beneath the cudgel of pain
Pressed under, still my soul is as right as rain

I am a blessing in disguise and Invictus
Bright eyed and bushy tailed
Still, curses and atrocities comes knocking
Trying to knock me yet I am consolidated

It's alright being in dire straits
I got the capacity to take the bull by the horns
I am out of this world, dare send a curse
I will fashion it into a blessing
