Cool Cars

In my burb, cool cars are superstars,
They never seem to travel far,
They drive off to the bottle shop,
Head off home, dodging the cops,
Maybe they seek lively young babes,
I think the ho's are laughing away,
Your fun police I am not,
Another trip to the bottle shop,
I do not care where your mufflers are,
Cool cars here are superstars!

Plastic Sheep

New Blithering is where I live,
Some laughs this burb does give,
You can buy plastic sheep here,
Do not know if they are dear,
In a store not far away,
Does a plastic sheep think anyway?
Could it talk in an ovine way?
Indeed, what would a plastic sheep think and say?
"How did we all end up here anyway?"
"I guess we just did, okay?"
I assume a plastic sheep can think and say,
"I hope you have an awesome day!"

Home Here

Here is my home, swell,
It is where I do dwell,
I fit into this 'burb real well,
In summer, hot as hell,
I sit here with my coffee,
To gaze at society,
You do appear strange to me,
Want to know what I think about thee?
My home is here, all is well,
I fit into my little town real swell!

Where the Lemon Trees Blooms

I know the land where the Lemon trees bloom
It's a place that's beyond compare
The dew on each tree sparkles oh so bright
That no one can despair

The critters they romp and play in the fields
They have no worries or cares
Their life is full of wonders and love
Whatever they have they share

I've seen the land where the Lemon trees bloom
When at night I lay down and dream
I've no stress or work to do their
I simply enjoy all it brings

The people now care for each other too
As they share all their hopes and dreams
No hunger or thirst is unmet in this land
It's a wondrous land it seems

When I sit down to watch the sunsets there
The site that I see is superb
The colors all seem to be catching fire
It's certainly not like the burb
I know the land where the Lemon trees bloom

Stepping Out

Back in the day music was good.
We enjoyed ourself no matter what part of town.
From the shotguns, to the high-rises.
The urge that instantly becomes testimonial.
Immediately we'd feel better soon as the music plays.
We'd forget everything else.
Like millions of feet echoing through our ears.
Our body reacts.
The experience of true euphoria when the music takes over.
Suddenly the load doesn't seem so heavy.

From the condos to the slums.
The mark of an era.
Going on down the road.
Nothing to do but walk.
Strut your strut.
The struggle to be free.
The stratosphere doesn't seem all so far.
The absolute rule of thumb.
Coming alive blowing out the dust,
The relationship between artist to listener.
To welcome birth.
The experience of it all.
Nothing but the road in front.
Strutting along.
Living, breathing.
To enjoy yourself no matter what part of town.
From projects to burb.
To step off the curb leave work behind.

Dance the block.

Clocking out.
Stepping to life.

Some of the best memories ever

Pardon Me

The digestive system, what can I say,
A favorite to exercise many times a day.
It’s always working whether awake or asleep,
And most of the time you don’t hear a peep.
But once in a while, loud sounds can be heard,
If from someone else, then give them this word.
Borborygmus it’s called in the singular form,
But hearing it once is just not the norm.
Borborygmi it’s known as the plural kind,
But don’t let this words get you out of your mind.
Remember…
One hippopotami cannot get on a bus,
Cause one hippopotami is two hippopotamus.
Just memorize the words, load your burb gun,
Borborygmi means many, borborygmus means one.

Xmas Eve 1961

XMAS EVE 1961

Five teenaged lads late on Christmas Eve,
quit playing cards and took their leave.
Got into a car and off we drove
to a hamburger joint with a greasy stove.

After a bowl of chili, one got sick.
The owner yelled out and three left quick.
After he messed the bathroom sink and floor,
I carried the fifth out the back alley door.

The police were waiting when we hit the curb,
booked for underage drinking in their little burb.
They put us in a klink called the Homewood jail,
the accommodations had a bible for those who fail.

They turned out the lights and the locks went klank,
tried looking around but the cells were dark and dank.
There wasn’t a mattress on the steel strapped bunks,
we resigned ourselves to our increasing mental funks.

No one tried to be brave; no one tried to be proud,
time for soul searching and we began crying out loud.
Our demeanor changed after that minor crime,
not one of us in 50 yrs has done anymore time.

Free To Disagree. Inspired By ' Free To Be Me."

There was this pristine poetess
who signed off: " Light and Love."
with the rocket plunge of osprey
and the soft cadence of a dove.

She grips each adverb tightly
measures out the slightest verb.
" You really need to think this out."
" Oh, You must be from the 'burb."

She rails at broken rhyme schemes.
She despises gauche haiku.
She does all this defending ART:
that excludes this one by you.

She is up and down each contest.
" They don't appreciate my style!"
Such is the life of a feisty Muse.
as she leaves you with a smile.

Now she's working out another,
yet before she says: " Goodbye!"
" I think that last line's off a bit"
" and now let me tell you why!"

I went to the source, as it were. I imagine sulfur in my Soup Mail tonight...

I Needed Just One More Second

If every time we...

Watched a movie
Swam in the river
Hung out with the kids
Talked at work
Went out to eat
Got stuck in traffic
Raced on the highway
Hugged
Bumped elbows in the kitchen
Griped about our ex's
Played video games
Figuring out why were here
Got to see my daughter run and jump into your arms
Watched you try to out burb my other daughter
Listen to you swear my couch is too short
Spoke like Daffy Duck

We would have had many more hours together.
Now you are gone.
I just needed one more second...
May God be with you now.
