OH AUGUST!
"The best of summer is gone, and the new fall not yet born--the odd, uneven time of year." Sylvia Plath
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
time drips slow,
like honey from a summer hive.
days stretch like shadows,
dancing with death of summer’s embrace.
amber fields rustle,
their golden stalks heavy with grain.
air, thick with heat and scent of decay,
blooms that once flourished, now wither away.
sun hangs low, a reluctant king
crowned in sun’s afterglow.
cicadas hum their throaty tune,
a chorus of nostalgia in the dilatory heat.
evening sky,
a canvas of bruised twilight hues.
odd, uneven stretch of days,
a paradox wrapped in sun's shimmering haze.
time of harvest, an unsteady grace,
where joy and melancholy intertwine.
Oh August! Bittersweetness lingers,
for I know summer’s end is near.
Setting sun shed golden light
illuminating bursting bright,
with her was a powder pink
where auburn crowns the ochre sync.
Smokey clouds upon the range
natures beauty often strange,
above the mountains in the sky
bittersweetness passes by.
AMBIVALENT
The swallowing of a morsel can't be justified
If the stomach still hurts.
Scorpion– the shining demon,
who doesn't stop until it’s quashed
applauds as it was filled with goosebumps.
A dog with two tails–yet barks,
and they say the future of the unknown
Is seen by Accompaniment of tears with personal growth.
Yet– the flame went down through us.
Come rain or shine,
A new Renaissance needs to be found
To a land proposed with happiness
In a wide dark bush filled with bitter leaf.
Yeh! the old Renaissance
The assumed room temperature was hugged.
some bellied up while a few fell on the wrong side of the grass.
Who knows!
If I will bite the dust before then!
Time flies like an arrow
No money– yet parties flowed like never before
No Food– yet waste bins overflowed with food remnants
Nothing to write home about
But bittersweetness is to be remembered
Peace be unto us that made it,
To that decade we never thought we could overcome
Surely another mountain shall stand against an egg,
Enthralling to see the new resolution.
I know
By LoLa
I know you know, she said
I woke up on your side of bed
To have your eyes through lullibies
A manic state; no alibis
I know we lost our way back home
We're making up for time, alone
You know i'll always see the light
Lost between the darkest nights
It's all right to see the truth
so much time lost in our youth
Know that i'll keep you in my heart
Now that our ways, are found apart
Times that we held through revelry
The price we paid for memories
White lies we told in desparate screams
Without a sound, we made a scene
In 60 days, we found our joy
Splitting waves we soon destoyed
Stranded in the desert sand
Mirages where you held my hand
No silence here to voice my doubts
No telling what you're all about
Those crashing waves on western shores
Meet concrete dreams I lost before
An Atlantic sunrise chills this night
You're sleeping now where you still fight
Delightful smiles are stolen now
With bittersweetness in my brow
I hope you know that I still know
Cause we still have what's left below
Those blurry nights of losing sleep
See you around; words meant to keep
She knew this day would one day arrive
just as she knows each morning the sun will rise…
Still she feels its bittersweetness…
as this day delights and terrifies…
Sometimes she can’t stop herself from smiling…
other times…she cries
For today is the day when she can no longer see…
the child in her daughter’s eyes…
But she knows she given her daughter roots and wings
and she knows her daughter is wise
So she proudly stands aside and watches
the day her daughter flies.…
I have tasted the joys of life
as I smell the heartbreak of defeat
I hear the voices of the chosen
I taste the bittersweetness of manna
I see the glories that surrounds me
This I tasted
These smells I smell
Voices I hear all tell
See scenes I hear
I smell
I taste
The joys of life
??Today I roamed your district
I saw nothing of you in the taverns, valleys, and fight yards
Where has your loose soul drawn you
That looseness that so cuts absolutes
You were my closeness, my attache
I loved you like that
Beyond the the steeps that were your happiness
For I loved you beyond yourself
You were my drowning melody
That sweet thing that kills
I go down loving you
And I stay up loving the feeling of your bittersweetness
That's all I have to say
Dunno where you are, dead or in Jupiter
But if death's taken you
I'll love that death just to go to you.
A Touch of Bittersweetness
Nay, I say as tears well up
I think of our full past
Together we had conquered all
and laughed with joy to last.
My memories, I want to keep
But sadness they do bring
Your smile I shall not see again
But regrets, no, not a thing.
Your contagious laugh, your glittering eyes
Like stars, you were so rare
But most of all, no one compares
To your loving touch; you care.
Forever more you shall remain
In hearts of everyone
For your heart of gold, we all do know
Familiar, yet eternally gone.
We all live our lives in our own individual way,
be it microbe, plant or animal. We all live one life then it's taken away.
I fail to see the positive side of this situation.
It's akin to allowing a child only one lick of a sweet candy cane,
and then deny that child from ever experiencing such sweetness again.
