Life's Bittersweetness

We all live our lives in our own individual way, be it microbe, plant or animal. We all live one life then it's taken away. I fail to see the positive side of this situation. It's akin to allowing a child only one lick of a sweet candy cane, and then deny that child from ever experiencing such sweetness again.

A sad but compelling poem, Bill. If we believe in eternal life, we have no reason to fear happiness ends when our earthly life ends. Still, I do understand what you are saying. I also believe in reincarnation; perhaps it's a belief that helps me cope with thoughts of death in our present lives. Very thought-provoking poem! Love, carolyn
