Best Tahr Poems
On a hazy day, in the mid of the jungle
through the dense rain forest, we trek;
Where astounding waterfalls spread smoke
and the various birds sing melodious jingles
Swaying lofty trees filter the sunlight,
cause the shadowy effect inside ;
They do sieve worldly sounds and impure air
and so the serene surreal ambience stays there
The recent rains flattened some tall trees
but equally granted the unique mushrooms;
Though the route is really tough and rough
the fragrance of the fresh rains embrace
Those lush green fungi on the rocks
do try too hard to block our walk;
Rustling the leaves, snakes move to bush,
discerning the scene, the poor rats ambush
Oops, these leaches suck my blood
and my shoes often stuck in the mud;
Our signposts are those largest footprints
of the giant elephants and trails of these tiny ants
Dreamlike journey it is, to meet imaginary animals;
Our target is to encounter those ethereal creatures
that we often hear and see in comics and animation films
but other than those animals we have seen so many things
Lion tailed macaque, Nilgiri tahr,
Great hornbill, Indian Giant squirrels
and the other colorful birds that are rare
look cuter than those unreal creatures
Trancelike travel inside the jungle
make us behold the real beauties;
Finally reached the plain grass land,
where the sun leers amid the blue screen.
The footsteps we trace, not just taken us to the plain
The tranquillity they offer, help us perceive the heaven
It's the great hike that raises our energy levels
It's the toughest trek that weakens our stress devil

For the contest Writing prompt- dreamlike by Constance La France
O' where are the soldiers -- where can they be found?
The soldiers lie strewn 'crost the battle-scarred ground
O' thither, O' thither the gorecrow must fly
Wherever the bodies of dead men do lie
Tahr-rahrahra caigh-o
Tahr-rahrahra caigh-ay
Who shall be feeding the gorecrow today?
And where are the sailors -- O' where can they be?
The sailors lie floatin', face down, i' the sea
Away thro' the tempest the gorecrow must speed
Before the cruel ocean recovers her deed
Tah-rahrahra caigh-o
Tah-rahrahra caigh-ay
O' who shall be feeding the gorecrow today?
And where are the ladies -- O' where do they lie?
In the kitchen or pantry, the wheatfields or rye?
Tis nae matter, for whither Love's maidens lie -- lo!
Tis thither, O' thither the gorecrow must go
Tah-rahrahra caigh-o
Tah-rahrahra caigh-ay
And who shall be feeding the gorecrow today?
O' where are the children -- the children who've died?
Hid fast in their cradle, by their mother's side
O' hasten then gorecrow -- O' hasten thee there!
For the flesh of Love's babes is a pleasure most rare
Tah-rahrahra caigh-o
Tah-rahrahra caigh-ay
O' who shall be feeding the gorecrow today?
Sure-footed on rugged hill
Likes life on mountain range
Rolling grassland fits the bill
Short horns reveal their age
Ovines in endangered stage
Males change from Brown, grey to black
Deft climbers blend with rock
Bristly manes, white saddleback
Female has agile walk
Dusky females never baulk
Feeds on various grass, leaves
Spots danger to snort, run
Predators - tigers, dholes, wolves
Humans poach, shoot for fun
Human deeds have their life done
Ooh, to take a magic carpet ride
Just disappear from here
To sneak away and explore the world
Just travel around its sphere.
Perhaps sneak away to Instanbul
Catch a whirling dervish show
Maybe flutter off to India
Watch spices as they grow.
Head towards the Netherlands
See flowering tulips in their fields
Steer the carpet to the Kenyan plains
As Maasai show their shields.
Coax the ride toward the British Isles
Perchance get to see the Queen
Flit on past the Amazon
See Brazilian emeralds and their green.
Soar over top of Everest
Chase the tahr down from its slopes
Swiftly skim across the deepest sea
Then gaze through Hubbles telescope.
Or should I closely hold your hand
Then float towards the moon
Lounge in the sun on golden sand
Then serenade you with a tune.
The word is full of lovely things
But I’d rather share the view
Because while these are dream vacations dear
They’d all be empty without you.
